Khelo India University Games
Udaipur. The semi-final and final matches of the beach volleyball competitions, held on Monday as part of the ongoing Khelo India University Games in Lake City, kept sports enthusiasts thoroughly engaged with their thrilling performances. Players from competing universities displayed remarkable energy and determination in their pursuit of medals.
Several dignitaries from the administration, sports fraternity, and civil society attended the matches as guests to encourage the players. Prominent among them were Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kewalramani, District Collector Namit Mehta, Sports Manager of Rajasthan State Sports Council Narendra Bhuria, Indian Volleyball Federation Secretary Ramanand Chaudhary, Asian Volleyball Confederation Vice President Ramavatar Jakhad, Excise Commissioner Shivprakash Nakate, Additional District Collector Dipendra Singh Rathore, SAI representative Atul Singh, State Bank Union President Rajesh Jain, and Mahakaleshwar Temple Trust Secretary Chandrashekhar Dadhich. All guests praised the athletes for their commendable performance.
According to Organizing Officer and UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain, in the men’s semi-final matches held on Monday morning, Goa University defeated KPM University 2–1, while SRM University beat UoC University 2–0 to secure a place in the finals. In the women’s category, VEL University defeated LNI University 2–0, and KPM University overcame SRM University 2–1 to enter the finals.
In the evening finals, VELS University clinched the gold medal in the women's category, while Kripagam University had to settle for silver. In the men’s category, SRM Chennai University secured the gold medal, and Goa University won silver. In the bronze medal matches, KPM University defeated UoC University 2–0 in the men’s category, and SRM University beat LNI University 2–0 in the women’s category to claim third place.
Kayaking-Canoeing Events Begin Today
As part of the three sports hosted by Udaipur under the Khelo India University Games, kayaking and canoeing competitions will begin on Tuesday at Fatehsagar Lake. Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal informed that the events will start at 8 AM, while the inauguration ceremony will be held at 4 PM at Fatehsagar Pal. All participating teams have arrived in Udaipur, and the preparations have been completed under the supervision of Dilip Singh Chauhan and Mahesh Peeplkar.
