Udaipur. District Collector Namit Mehta and Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Khanna inspected the Balicha Municipal Corporation waste dumping yard on Saturday. They reviewed the existing arrangements and issued directions for necessary improvements. During the inspection, the Collector and Commissioner examined the current waste disposal process, machinery, security system, and future requirements. They assured the officers that the dumping yard would be upgraded in a phased manner with state-of-the-art technological facilities.
Watch Tower to Be Constructed
Commissioner Abhishek Khanna informed Collector Namit Mehta that a watch tower will be constructed in the dumping yard premises to strengthen surveillance. From the tower, the entire area can be monitored continuously. Two security guards will be deployed on the tower to ensure that garbage-carrying vehicles dump waste only at the designated site. It was noted that sometimes vehicles empty waste in the middle of the road, disrupting the entire system of the yard.
High-Quality Camera System to Enhance Monitoring
It was also decided to install high-quality cameras on the existing high-mast poles to ensure comprehensive surveillance of the dumping yard. Commissioner Khanna said that this system will greatly support safety, operational efficiency, and quick response during emergency situations.
Fire Tender to Be Available 24×7
Officers raised concerns about occasional fire incidents caused by miscreants. In response, Collector Mehta instructed strict action against such individuals. Commissioner Khanna added that, considering the risk of fire, a fire tender will be stationed at the yard 24 hours a day. All essential resources will remain ready at all times to handle any emergency fire situation.
Hydrant Centre to Be Set Up for Fire Vehicles
During the inspection, the Collector and Commissioner also decided to establish a dedicated hydrant centre within the yard premises for refilling fire trucks with water during emergencies. This will enable quick action and help control fire incidents in minimal time.
Other Technical Upgrades Coming Soon
District Collector Namit Mehta instructed officials to begin work on adding new waste processing machinery, improving roads and lighting, and enhancing essential facilities for employees. He emphasized that the dumping yard should be developed according to modern standards to significantly improve the city's waste management system.
