Udaipur:By hoisting the Indian national flag atop Mount Vinson Massif, the highest peak of the Antarctic continent, Mansvi Agrawal has brought immense pride not only to Udaipur but to the entire state of Rajasthan on the international stage. Mansvi achieved this historic feat on December 12, 2025, becoming the first woman from Rajasthan to successfully summit this formidable peak. Notably, no male mountaineer from Rajasthan has yet accomplished this achievement.
Located at an altitude of approximately 5,000 metres (around 16,500 feet) above sea level, Mount Vinson lies at the Earth’s southernmost extreme. Completely covered in ice and surrounded by thousands of kilometres of uninhabited wilderness, the region experiences extreme weather conditions, with temperatures often plunging to minus 60 degrees Celsius. Due to such harsh conditions, summiting Vinson Massif is considered one of the most challenging mountaineering expeditions in the world.
According to experts, only about 50 climbers globally manage to reach the summit each year. So far, fewer than 10 Indian mountaineers have successfully scaled Vinson Massif, and Mansvi Agrawal’s name has now been added to this elite list.
Result of Rigorous Training and Discipline
Mansvi Agrawal’s achievement is the result of years of rigorous training and strict discipline. She has successfully completed basic and advanced mountaineering courses from the Mountaineering Institute, Dirang (Arunachal Pradesh) and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling (West Bengal). These programmes require participants to undergo intensive training for nearly a month at altitudes of up to 6,500 metres on snow-covered peaks. Notably, both institutions are operated by the Indian Army.
In addition, she has received advanced training from the Swami Vivekananda Rock Climbing Institute, run by the Government of Gujarat, and is also a certified instructor in the field.
Mission ‘Seven Summits’
Earlier this year, Mansvi successfully conquered Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, and Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Her goal is to complete the prestigious “Seven Summits” challenge by scaling the highest peaks of all seven continents in the coming year.
Excellence in Sports, Education, and Research
Alongside mountaineering, Mansvi Agrawal has an outstanding record in sports and academics. She is a former national-level shooter in 10-metre rifle shooting and has competed up to the fourth round of selection for the Indian national team.
Academically, she is equally accomplished. After completing a five-year integrated law degree from Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar, she earned her postgraduate degree and is currently pursuing PhD research in Environmental Law. Recently, she cleared the University Grants Commission (UGC) Assistant Professor Eligibility Examination with an impressive 99.2 percentile. At present, she is serving as an Assistant Professor at a local Singhania Law College.
An Inspiration for the Youth
Mansvi Agrawal’s journey proves that with strong determination, hard work, and discipline, no goal is unattainable. She has emerged as a powerful source of inspiration for the nation’s youth, especially young girls, symbolising courage, dedication, and balance.
Family Values and Discipline Behind the Success
Mansvi’s father, T. R. Agrawal, is a senior officer of the Rajasthan Finance Service, recently retired from the post of Additional Director. Her mother, Saroj Gupta, is a senior faculty member in the History Department at Meera Girls College. The discipline, values, and encouragement imparted by her parents have played a significant role in shaping Mansvi’s remarkable success.
