Udaipur Tales Organizes 6th Annual Storytelling Competition

Udaipur: Under the Udaipur Tales International Storytelling Festival, the 6th Annual Storytelling Competition was successfully organized today at Vidya Bhavan School by the Ma My Anchor Foundation. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from children, who captivated the audience with their engaging narratives.

Founder of the foundation, Sushmita Singha, stated that the objective of the competition was to celebrate and preserve the rich oral tradition of storytelling through engaging activities for children. Over the past six years, this competition has emerged as a key initiative of Udaipur Tales, consistently encouraging young talents to explore storytelling as a powerful medium of expression.

Salil Bhandari shared that this year’s edition saw enthusiastic participation from leading schools of Udaipur, reflecting the city’s growing interest in storytelling as an art form. Participating schools included Vidya Bhavan School, both branches of St. Anthony Senior Secondary School, Delhi Public School, The Junior Study, The Senior Study, Saifi School, Neerja Modi School, and Maharana Mewar Vidya Mandir School.

Diverse and Thoughtful Presentations

Young participants presented a wide range of thoughtfully curated stories reflecting strong cultural roots and meaningful life lessons. The competition featured popular tales of Mewar’s valor, along with stories inspired by Shakespeare’s plays. Several children narrated moral stories highlighting values such as honesty, kindness, courage, and empathy, while others brought alive episodes from Indian epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata through expressive narration and well-planned props. Many stories were inspired by everyday life, focusing on farmers, animals, nature, and simple yet powerful life lessons, making the performances relatable and impactful.

Enthusiastic Participation

The event witnessed tremendous enthusiasm among children, who came well-prepared with creative props, themed costumes, and uniforms, adding vibrancy and excitement to their performances. The young storytellers displayed remarkable confidence, imagination, and expressive skills, thoroughly enjoying the Udaipur Tales storytelling platform.

Udaipur Tales’ Ongoing Initiative

Udaipur Tales expressed happiness over the positive response and active participation from schools and students, which continues to grow stronger each year. This encouragement motivates the organization to further expand its efforts to strengthen the culture of storytelling among children.

The event’s digital partner, Readmio, rewarded all participants with a one-month free subscription to the Readmio app. Winners received a one-year premium subscription along with a special opportunity to release their audiobook on the Readmio platform. Readmio is a globally popular children’s storytelling app offering interactive stories, audiobooks, and read-along experiences. This collaboration successfully bridged traditional oral storytelling with modern digital platforms, providing young storytellers with a wider audience and a lasting voice.
