Three-Day Rural Residential Vanashala Camp Flagged Off with 600 Students

Students to Study Village Issues and Work Towards Solutions; Stopping Rural Migration is the Biggest Need: Prof. Sarangdevot

Udaipur. A group of 600 students was flagged off on Saturday for a three-day rural residential Vanashala camp organized for the all-round development of students by Lokmanya Tilak Teacher Training College, a constituent college of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University. The camp is being held at Pavapuri Vijay Pataka Dham in Sirohi.

The student contingent was flagged off by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, along with Principal Prof. Saroj Garg, Dr. Ami Rathore, Dr. Sunita Murdiya, Dr. Balidan Jain, and Dr. Bhuralal Shrimali.

Addressing the students, Prof. Sarangdevot said that residential camps help inculcate a spirit of teamwork, self-confidence, and mutual cooperation among students, and the experiences gained during such camps remain memorable for a lifetime. He emphasized that the soul of India resides in villages, where Indian culture and traditions are deeply rooted and preserved. However, with modernization, migration from villages to cities has increased, and there is an urgent need to stop this trend.

He stressed that employment opportunities must be created at the rural level itself. The younger generation should be equipped with education along with skill development programmes, so that after completing their studies they can become self-reliant within their own villages. Prof. Sarangdevot appealed to the students to form groups during the three-day camp, conduct village surveys, identify local problems, and make efforts to resolve them in coordination with the concerned departments.

Recalling the vision of the institution’s founder Manishi Janubhai, Prof. Sarangdevot said that Rajasthan Vidyapeeth was established in 1937 with the objective of spreading education to the most deprived and remote rural areas. With the help of just five workers and lanterns, night schools were started in villages to promote education.

During the Vanashala camp, students will work in groups in villages such as Mandwa, Saneshwar, and areas around Sirohi, studying changes in social and economic conditions in the modern era, their causes, and assessing the status of sanitation, health, and education. Villagers will also be informed about how to avail benefits of various state and central government schemes.

In the evening village gatherings (chaupals), awareness will be created through street plays on topics such as Swachh Bharat–Swasth Bharat, Right to Education, Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao, Janani Suraksha, water self-reliance, and environmental conservation.

Several faculty members and staff, including Dr. Balidan Jain, Dr. Anita Kothari, Dr. Kailash Chaudhary, Dr. Sarita Menaria, Dr. Amit Dave, Dr. Himmat Singh, Dr. Harish Choubisa, Dr. Rohit Kumawat, Dr. Indu Acharya, Dr. Subhash Purohit, Dr. Harish Menaria, Dr. Renu Hingad, Dr. Hemlata Jain, Dr. Sheetal Chug, Dr. Roma Bhansali, Mahendra Verma, and Dr. Tilkesh Ameta, along with a large number of students, were present on the occasion.
