Udaipur: All major sports grounds of the city buzzed with enthusiasm on Tuesday as the MP Sports Festival witnessed massive participation across multiple disciplines. Matches of cricket, volleyball, football, kabaddi, tug of war, spoon race, and 50- and 100-metre races were held simultaneously at different venues.
More than 2,400 women and men athletes took part in 11 sports events. Member of Parliament Dr Mannalal Rawat, along with several public representatives, visited the grounds to encourage players and boost their morale.
According to Sports Coordinator Manoj Joshi, men’s kabaddi matches at Fateh School saw participation from 23 teams with around 300 players. All women’s events were organised at BN University, where nearly 900 women competed in athletics, kabaddi, cricket, football, and volleyball. Men’s volleyball, football, and badminton events at Gandhi Ground attracted about 400 participants.
Winning teams in group events will receive ₹11,150, while runners-up will be awarded ₹5,150. In individual events, winners will get ₹2,150 and runners-up ₹1,150 along with certificates. Athletes from 46 mandals of eight assembly segments are participating.
The festival will conclude on December 25, marking the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, with a prize distribution ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the winners via video conference at 11 am.
