###Government’s Strong Crackdown on Illegal Mining in the Aravalli Range

Udaipur |The Rajasthan government has launched a decisive and zero-tolerance crackdown against illegal mining in the ecologically sensitive Aravalli mountain range. Acting on the firm directions of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, a special joint enforcement campaign has been initiated across all districts falling under the Aravalli belt, including Udaipur. The campaign began on December 29 and will continue until January 15, targeting illegal mining, transportation, and storage activities.

To ensure effective implementation, District Collector Namit Mehta and Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal chaired a review meeting via video conference on Monday, issuing clear instructions to all concerned departments. Senior officials from the mining, forest, police, revenue, and transport departments participated, along with all sub-divisional officers, tehsildars, circle officers, and station house officers connected virtually.

“Act with Full Responsibility and Seriousness” – District Collector

Addressing the officials, District Collector Namit Mehta emphasized that the state government is fully committed to protecting the Aravalli ecosystem, with the Chief Minister personally monitoring the campaign. He directed all officers to act with complete responsibility and seriousness, warning that any negligence would invite strict legal action.
Key instructions included:

Deployment of vehicles through DMFT funds for effective field monitoring

Sharing detailed data on mining leases, lease areas, and sensitive illegal mining zones with sub-divisional magistrates

Ensuring seamless coordination among all departments

SP Yogesh Goyal instructed police officers to work in close coordination with other departments and take firm action to completely curb illegal mining activities.

Districts Covered Under the Special Drive

The special campaign is being conducted across all Aravalli-region districts, including Alwar, Khairthal-Tijara, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, Dausa, Kotputli-Behror, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Beawar, Tonk, Kuchaman-Didwana, Pali, Sirohi, Rajsamand, Udaipur, Salumber, Dungarpur, Banswara, and Pratapgarh.

Joint Task Forces and Continuous Monitoring

A district-level committee chaired by the District Collector will monitor the campaign, while Special Task Forces led by Sub-Divisional Magistrates will conduct continuous surveillance at the ground level. These teams comprise officials from the mining, revenue, forest, police, and transport departments. Surprise inspections will also be carried out jointly by the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police.

Drone Surveillance for Precision Action

To enhance efficiency and ensure real-time monitoring, drone surveys will be deployed to identify illegal mining sites and track activities continuously, enabling swift and decisive action against violators.

With this coordinated, technology-driven, and strictly monitored campaign, the Rajasthan government has sent a clear message: the Aravalli range will be protected at all costs.
