####Rotary Club Mewar and Pt. Vishweshwar Sharma Charitable Trust Confer ‘Geet Samman’ on Lyricist Dr. Vishnu Saxena

UdaipurUnder the joint aegis of Rotary Club Mewar and Lyricist Pt. Vishweshwar Sharma Charitable Trust, a grand Kavi Sammelan was organized on Monday at the Town Hall, Udaipur, in the cherished memory of legendary lyricist Pt. Vishweshwar Sharma. The literary evening resonated with poetry, patriotism, social concern, and melody.


On this occasion, renowned lyricist Dr. Vishnu Saxena from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, was honoured with this year’s prestigious “Geet Samman”. The award was presented by former Deputy Mayor Paras Singhvi, former CEO of HZL Akhilesh Joshi, Wonder Cement’s Rajendra Bora, SBI Regional Manager M.G. Vyas, RIICO Udaipur GM Ajay Pandya, and K. Himkar Dubey of Nixithan Global Services.
Dr. Saxena was felicitated with a cash award of ₹1 lakh.

Poetry that Touched Hearts

Dr. Vishnu Saxena mesmerized the audience with his powerful lines:
“Jo haath thaam lo, woh phir na chhootne paaye…
Zameen se paanv ka rishta na tootne paaye…”
urging humanity to remain grounded despite success.

Poetess Deepika Mahi won thunderous applause with her romantic and emotive verses, while Sunil Vyas drew smiles and reflection through his contemporary poem imagining an “app where humanity logs in.”

Poet Manoj Gurjar infused the hall with patriotic fervour through stirring lines dedicated to martyrs and national pride. Rajendra Gopal Vyas captivated listeners with spiritually rich imagery, and Shailendra Shailu entertained all with witty film parodies.

Aravalli Resonates Through Poetry

The evening’s anchor, internationally acclaimed poet Rao Ajat Shatru of Udaipur, drew special attention with his powerful composition on the Aravalli range, blending history, valor, and environmental concern—earning prolonged applause and deep reflection amid the ongoing Aravalli debate.

Tribute to a Legendary Lyricist

A documentary on Pt. Vishweshwar Sharma was screened, highlighting his extraordinary contribution of writing songs for over 140 Bollywood films, including the evergreen classic “Chal Sanyasi”, leaving the audience nostalgic and inspired.

Rotary Club’s Commitment Beyond Literature

In his welcome address, Rotary Club Mewar President Manish Ganna shared that the club is actively engaged not only in social service but also in literary and cultural initiatives. He highlighted the adoption of a government school in a remote village for holistic development and donation of furniture to several schools.

Club Patron Hansraj Chaudhary elaborated on Rotary Club Mewar’s service journey, beginning with donating medical equipment to the Nephrology Ward of RNT Medical College, and continuing relentlessly in various humanitarian efforts.

Dignified Presence and Warm Hospitality

Several club members including Yogesh Pagaria, Deepesh Kothari, Secretary Mukesh Sharma, Mukesh Mahatma, Neelabh Sharma, Vimal Pandya, Rajesh Pandya, Yayati Pandya, Rakesh Pandya, Kusumakar Pandya, Rohit Pandya, Som Shekhar Vyas, and Chanchalesh Bhatt welcomed the guests with traditional pagdi and uparna. Social worker Gagansingh Rao was also present.

All dignitaries addressed the gathering, enriching the evening with their thoughts. The program was elegantly conducted by former Rotary Club President Anil Mehta.

The evening stood as a glowing tribute to poetry, values, and social commitment, proving that literature continues to be a powerful medium connecting soil, soul, and society.
