###Successful Laser Surgery Workshop Held at Geetanjali Hospital
Udaipur: The Department of General Surgery at Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital successfully organized a one-day Laser Surgery Workshop, showcasing advancements in minimally invasive surgical care. The academic program was conducted under the guidance of Department Head Dr. Sanjeev Agrawal and Professor Dr. Ajay Chauhan. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Mohit Kumar Badgurjar, with wholehearted support from the entire surgical team.
The workshop featured live demonstrations of modern laser-based surgical techniques, with procedures performed on nine patients. These included three cases of varicose veins (one recurrent), three fistula-in-ano cases (including two trans-sphincteric), and three hemorrhoid cases. The live demonstrations provided participants with valuable exposure to practical applications of contemporary laser technology in surgery.
Renowned specialist Dr. Vivek Sharma from Ajmer participated as the invited expert and shared his extensive clinical experience and technical insights. He highlighted the key benefits of laser surgery — including reduced pain, minimal blood loss, faster recovery, and shorter hospital stay for patients. His humble nature, clarity of explanation, and patient responses to faculty and resident queries earned wide appreciation from attendees.
Around 40 surgeons, including faculty members and resident doctors, actively took part in the workshop. Participants gained both theoretical and hands-on understanding of emerging advancements in laser surgery, strengthening their ability to deliver safer, more efficient, and patient-centric surgical care in the future.
The success of the program was greatly supported by the Department of Anaesthesiology, led by Dr. Alka Chhabra, along with Dr. Pooja Patel, Dr. Pinky, and the entire anesthesia team. Appreciation was also extended to the Department of Radiology — particularly Dr. Ravinder Kundu (Head of Department), Dr. Yamini, and Dr. Shivam — for their valuable assistance. The contribution of Hemant Garg and the entire Operation Theatre staff was also acknowledged as instrumental in the smooth execution of the workshop.
The academic initiative received highly positive feedback from faculty members and resident doctors, marking the workshop as a significant step toward advancing modern surgical training and patient care at Geetanjali Hospital.
