Air Services from Kota’s New Airport to Begin by 2027: Birla

###Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Interacts with Journalists at New Year Get-Together

Kota, Lok Sabha Speaker and Member of Parliament from Kota–Bundi, Shri Om Birla, interacted with journalists during a New Year get-together organized in Kota. Extending his best wishes to media persons for the year 2026, Shri Birla shared his development vision for the parliamentary constituency with confidence.

He stated that air services from the proposed Greenfield Airport in Kota will commence by 2027, which will accelerate several stalled development initiatives in the region. Shri Birla informed that a budget of ₹1,507 crore for the Kota airport has already been approved by the Central Government. Two tenders have been completed, and he is personally reviewing the project’s progress regularly with the Union Civil Aviation Minister in New Delhi.

The Lok Sabha Speaker further said that the existing Kota airport is planned to be developed as a pilot training hub. Discussions are underway with several companies, and he expressed hope that work on this project would begin in 2026.

Addressing concerns over the slowdown in Kota’s coaching sector, Shri Birla said that efforts are being made to reduce its impact by focusing on tourism and industrial development. Simultaneously, initiatives are being undertaken to remove all obstacles affecting the coaching ecosystem.

He added that the redevelopment of both railway stations in Kota city will be completed by 2026. Several other railway projects are also in progress, which will further improve connectivity. Most of the work on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway has been completed, with only a small stretch remaining in the Sawai Madhopur region, expected to be finished in the coming months. This expressway will benefit Kota Airport significantly, as Kota will be closer than Jaipur for tourists visiting Sawai Madhopur. Once completed, travel time from Sawai Madhopur to Kota will be reduced to just one hour.

Abundant Water Availability in Kota–Bundi Region

Shri Birla emphasized that Kota–Bundi parliamentary constituency has abundant water resources compared to other parts of Rajasthan. Efforts are underway to enhance water availability across the region through the Parvan, Navnera, and Gararda dams. This availability is expected to attract water-intensive industries, and discussions are already ongoing with several industrialists.

Alternative to Soybean Crop

Highlighting initiatives for agricultural development, Shri Birla said that soybean, the primary crop of the Hadoti region, has been witnessing a continuous decline in production. As a result, efforts are being made to identify suitable alternatives so that farmers can increase their income by shifting to other crops.

He announced that a major agriculture-related expo will be organized in Kota in February, which will provide farmers with the latest information and techniques to enhance productivity.

Chambal Riverfront Will Prove Its Value

Responding to questions regarding the Chambal Riverfront being termed a “white elephant” by some BJP leaders and ministers, Shri Birla said that the project’s impact would become evident within two years. With the commencement of airport operations, tourism from India and abroad will increase, leading to the development of hotels and other facilities around the riverfront.
