Udaipur:Under the special drive launched by the State Government to protect the Aravalli mountain range and curb illegal mining, stringent action is being continuously carried out across Udaipur district. Acting under the directions of District Collector Namit Mehta, joint teams comprising officials from the Mining, Forest, Police, Transport and Revenue Departments are conducting round-the-clock monitoring and enforcement operations. The sustained action has created panic among the illegal mining operators.
Mining Engineer Asif Ansari informed that on Sunday, a joint inspection team took action against illegal mineral transportation in the Shishvi–Kurabad area. During the operation, a trailer carrying approximately 40 tonnes of feldspar was found being transported illegally and was seized. In another action in the same Kurabad region, two trailers loaded with nearly 70 tonnes of masonry stone were confiscated for overloading. Legal proceedings are being initiated against all seized vehicles as per rules.
Meanwhile, in the Rishabhdev area, acting under the direction of Deputy Superintendent of Police Heramb Joshi, the police team led by the Station House Officer reached Devaliya during routine patrolling. At the site, an illegal stockpile of approximately 100–125 tonnes of white stone quartz was found. Officials from the Mining Department were called to the spot, and the quartz was taken under surveillance after preparing the necessary spot report. Further action is underway.
Similarly, in the Patia police station area, a team led by SHO Devendra Singh Rao detained a tractor along with a trolley filled with masonry stone under the illegal mining drive and informed the Mining Department, Rishabhdev, for further proceedings.
In Eswal village, upon receiving information about illegal mining activities, Senior Executive Officer of the Mining Department Dharmendra Singh, along with his team, reached the location. Illegal extraction of masonry stone was found at two different sites. The team registered two separate cases and initiated further legal action.
Zero Tolerance Policy Against Illegal Mining
District Collector Namit Mehta reiterated that the State Government is fully committed to preventing illegal mining in the Aravalli region. Acting on government directives, a zero-tolerance policy is being strictly enforced against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals. He emphasized that strict legal action against offenders will continue unabated to ensure environmental protection and conservation of the fragile Aravalli ecosystem.
