Rajasthan Dragon Boat Team Shines at National Championship, Wins Silver Medal

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh:/Rajasthan’s Dragon Boat athletes delivered an impressive performance at the 14th National Dragon Boat Championship being held in Bhopal, bringing pride to the state by securing a silver medal after earlier winning gold at the national level.

On the third day of the championship, the Rajasthan Mixed Junior Team competed in the D-10, 500-metre Mixed Event, where they faced strong competition from teams representing Kerala, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and leading sports academies across the country. The Rajasthan team narrowly missed the gold medal by just a few milliseconds, making their silver medal finish a commendable achievement.

Sharing the details, Bhagwan Swaroop Vaishnav, President of the Rajasthan Kayaking & Canoeing Association, and Dilip Singh Chauhan, Secretary of the Association, said the team’s performance reflected months of disciplined training and dedication.

Association Chairman Chandragupt Singh Chauhan informed that following Rajasthan’s gold and silver medal wins, Prashant Kushwaha, President of the Asian Canoe Federation and the Indian Kayaking & Canoeing Association, along with Balbir Kushwaha, personally congratulated the players. Prashant Kushwaha praised the Rajasthan team’s strength and consistency, stating that their outstanding performance has placed Rajasthan in a leading position in both senior and junior mixed events at the national championship. He also expressed confidence that, with continued support and international-level facilities, these players would go on to represent India on the global stage.

Present on the occasion were Bhagwan Swaroop Vaishnav, Dilip Singh Chauhan, and Association Vice President Mahesh Pimpalkar.

Rajasthan Dragon Boat Chairman Ajay Agrawal and Chairperson Tushar Mehta announced that the silver medal–winning team included Kanishka Kumawat, Saksham Kumawat, Shagun Kumawat, Mansavi Sukhwal, Anant Singhvi, Naisa Paneri, Kulvardhan Singh Shaktawat, Charvi Kumawat, Manas Sukhwal, Parth Singh Chundawat, Jai Gurjar, Parth Kumawat, Devendra Singh, and Tejasvi Joshi. The team was coached by former international medalist Ms. Tanishk Patwa.

Association representative Piyush Kachhwaha highlighted that the players’ rigorous training over the past three months had clearly indicated that Rajasthan would emerge as a strong medal contender at the championship.

Senior officials of the Rajasthan Kayaking & Canoeing Association, including R.K. Dhabai (Chairman), Dr. Mahavir Singh Parihar (Senior Vice President), Prof. Madan Singh Rathore (Vice President), Sharad Dashora, Dr. Bhupendra Singh Chauhan (Treasurer), along with Praveen Suthar, Jaideep Singh, Mahendra Singh, Dhan Singh, and technical coach Deepak Gupta, congratulated the medal-winning athletes and announced a grand welcome for the team upon their return to Udaipur.
