In a proud moment for Indian cinema, two films produced under the banner of Hombale Films—Mahavatar Narasimha and Kantara: Chapter 1—have been officially submitted to the Oscar General Entry List this year.
Mahavatar Narasimha, directed by Ashwin Kumar and presented by Hombale Films, is a powerful cinematic vision rooted in mythology and visual grandeur. Meanwhile, Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, continues the legacy of its predecessor by blending culture, folklore, and raw storytelling with remarkable cinematic finesse.
Both films were major box office successes and received widespread acclaim for their compelling narratives, deep cultural connect, strong technical execution, and visionary storytelling. Following their inclusion in the Oscar General Entry List, the films will now be considered across several prominent award categories, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Producer, Best Story/Writing, Best Production Design, and Best Cinematography. The final decision on shortlisting will be made by the Academy.
