Advanced Critical Care and Teamwork Lead to Remarkable Recovery

### New Life Restored at PMCH for Guillain-Barré Syndrome Patient

Udaipur. A remarkable example of advanced medical care and coordinated teamwork was witnessed at Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where a critically ill patient suffering from a rare and life-threatening neurological disorder was successfully treated and discharged in a fully stable condition.

A 62-year-old patient, Ganesh Gatri, was brought to the hospital with rapidly progressing paralysis affecting both arms and legs. His condition was further complicated by severe breathing difficulty and inability to swallow food. Due to the critical nature of his health, he was admitted under the General Medicine department in the unit of Dr. Shaukat Ali Bohra. During hospitalization, his respiratory strength deteriorated significantly, necessitating intubation and ventilator support.

After detailed clinical evaluation and investigations, the patient was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)—a serious neurological disorder that affects the peripheral nerves and can become fatal if not treated promptly. Dr. Bohra explained that early diagnosis and intensive monitoring are crucial in managing such cases.

Considering the fragile condition of the patient, treatment was carried out under the leadership of Dr. Shaukat Ali Bohra and Dr. Hasmukh Panchal, supported by Dr. Tasha Purohit, Dr. Rashmi, and the expert MICU team. Continuous round-the-clock monitoring, evidence-based protocols, and advanced critical care management were followed meticulously. Gradually, the patient began responding positively to the treatment.

According to Dr. Hasmukh Panchal, the patient was successfully weaned off the ventilator without the need for tracheostomy, which is considered a significant medical achievement in severe GBS cases. With steady recovery, the patient regained strength and was discharged in a stable and healthy condition.

Chairman of PMCH, Rahul Agarwal, stated that the successful outcome reflects the hospital’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, experienced medical professionals, skilled nursing staff, and dedicated support teams working in complete synergy.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, the patient’s family acknowledged the medical team for their compassion, dedication, and humane approach, stating that it was due to their relentless efforts that the patient was able to return to normal life with renewed hope and confidence.
