Jaisalmer.The internationally renowned Maru Mahotsav-2026, celebrated for its cultural grandeur and global recognition, will be organised jointly by the District Administration and the Tourist Reception Centre, Jaisalmer, from January 29 to February 1, 2026. The festival will commence on January 29 in Pokaran, while the main events will be held in Jaisalmer.
‘Maru Shri’ and ‘Miss Moomal’ Competitions on January 30
As part of the festival, the prestigious ‘Maru Shri’ and ‘Miss Moomal’ competitions will be organised in Jaisalmer on Friday, January 30, 2026. Applications for both competitions have been invited, with the last date for submission fixed as January 23, 2026, during office hours.
Eligibility and Conditions for ‘Maru Shri’ Competition
Providing details, Assistant Director of the Tourist Reception Centre, Jaisalmer, Kamleshwar Singh stated that:
Participants must be adults with a minimum age of 21 years, supported by valid proof.
The minimum height requirement is 5 feet 6 inches.
The winner must remain present in traditional Maru Shri attire throughout the fair days.
Mandatory photo sessions at monuments and havelis will be conducted by photographers authorised by the department.
Participation in the procession is compulsory.
No travelling allowance or accommodation will be provided.
Previous first prize winners will not be eligible to participate again.
The participant must be a native of Rajasthan.
The decision of the judging panel will be final.
Eligibility and Conditions for ‘Miss Moomal’ Competition
For the ‘Miss Moomal’ competition, it was informed that:
The participant must be at least 18 years of age, with a birth or school certificate attached.
The contestant must be unmarried.
Wearing bangles above the elbow will not be permitted.
The attire must be based on the Marwar tradition of Western Rajasthan.
The winner must remain present for all three days of the fair.
Mandatory photography sessions at monuments and havelis will be carried out by department-appointed photographers.
No travelling allowance or accommodation will be admissible.
Previous first prize winners will not be eligible.
The participant must be a native of Rajasthan.
The decision of the judging panel will be final.
Application Deadline
It is noteworthy that application forms for both competitions will be accepted from January 14 to January 23, 2026, during office hours only. Applications received after office hours on January 23 will not be considered.
