Udaipur: The Udaipur City District Congress Minority Department submitted a memorandum seeking redressal of issues faced by minorities to the Additional District Collector at the Udaipur Collectorate on Wednesday. The memorandum was submitted in the name of the Chief Minister of the State under the leadership of Mohammad Rais Khan, President of the Udaipur City District Congress Minority Department.
Mohammad Rais Khan stated that the memorandum highlighted the 15-Point Programme for the welfare of minorities, which has been announced by the state for safeguarding minority interests and is implemented through the Rajasthan Minority Department. However, due to alleged administrative and governmental negligence, the programme is not being implemented effectively.
The memorandum demanded an increase in seats at the Minority Girls’ Hostel in Udaipur and the appointment of a female warden in place of a male warden at the Minority Residential Girls’ School in Naya Kheda. It also called for an increase in the budget for business and educational loans in the Udaipur division and simplification of documentation procedures so that entrepreneurs and students can easily avail themselves of these schemes.
Additionally, the memorandum sought scholarships for all minority students, immediate appointment of Urdu teachers in schools where Urdu posts have already been sanctioned, and implementation of the Sachar Committee recommendations. The Congress Minority Department further demanded concrete action on these issues and accountability of the concerned departments to protect minority public interests.
Those present during the submission of the memorandum included City President Mohammad Rais Khan, former councillor Mohammad Nasir Khan, former Congress spokesperson and councillor Firoz Ahmed Sheikh, Subhan Ali, Yasmeen Khan, Sonia Khan, and several other members of the minority community.
