####New Delhi to Be Immersed in Eight Days of Patriotism, Cultural Pride and Democratic Traditions on the 77th Republic Day

On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, the national capital New Delhi will be immersed in celebrations of patriotism, cultural pride and democratic traditions for eight days, from 23 to 31 January 2026. During this period, the city will host a series of grand events including the Republic Day Parade, cultural performances, gallantry award ceremonies, display of tableaux and various public participation programmes. These events will not only showcase India’s constitutional heritage and military strength but will also strongly highlight the nation’s diversity, unity and journey of development, further strengthening national consciousness among citizens.

The official ceremony of the 77th Republic Day Parade will take place on 26 January 2026 at Kartavya Path, beginning at 9:30 am and concluding around 11:00 am, lasting approximately 90 minutes. This year, the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be the Chief Guests at the parade. They will be seated on the main dais along with President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other dignitaries.

The main highlights of the parade will include the military march-past, a spectacular display of the skills of the three wings of the Indian Armed Forces, cultural tableaux, and the Indian Air Force flypast. Prior to the parade, floral tributes will be paid to the nation’s martyrs at the Amar Jawan Jyoti Memorial near India Gate.

Following the main Republic Day programme at Kartavya Path, the historic Red Fort complex will come alive with the celebrations of Bharat Parv 2026, which will be held from 26 to 31 January 2026. This initiative was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after assuming office and has been organized continuously since 2014, except during the COVID period. Bharat Parv is an integral part of the Republic Day festivities and continues for five days after 26 January. It features the display of national tableaux, cultural programmes, regional cuisines, handicraft exhibitions and several other attractions. The festival has become extremely popular among the people of Delhi.

During the Republic Day Parade on 26 January, a total of 30 tableaux will be showcased on Kartavya Path, presenting a vibrant glimpse of India’s rich cultural heritage and developmental achievements. These include 17 tableaux from States and Union Territories and 13 tableaux from various Ministries, Departments and Services of the Government of India. The tableaux are based on the themes “Mantra of Freedom – Vande Mataram” and “Mantra of Prosperity – Atmanirbhar Bharat”, commemorating 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram” and reflecting India’s cultural diversity along with its rapid progress towards self-reliance. Among these, Rajasthan’s colourful tableau will showcase the golden brilliance of Bikaner’s renowned Usta art.

The themes of the tableaux have been designed to strongly present India’s cultural diversity, the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and national consciousness. Through these tableaux, glimpses of India’s traditions, freedom movement, innovation, military strength and socio-economic development will be displayed. Assam’s tableau will depict the folk art of Asharikandi terracotta craft village, while Chhattisgarh and Gujarat will present Vande Mataram as a mantra of freedom, swadeshi and self-reliance. Himachal Pradesh will highlight its identity as Devbhoomi and Veerbhoomi, while Jammu & Kashmir will showcase its rich handicraft traditions and folk dances.

Kerala’s tableau will convey the message of a self-reliant Kerala through the Water Metro and 100 percent digital literacy. Maharashtra will portray Ganesh Utsav as a symbol of self-reliance. Manipur will depict the journey from agriculture to global markets, Nagaland will highlight culture and tourism through the Hornbill Festival, and Odisha will present the confluence of tradition and technology with the theme “From Soil to Silicon”. Puducherry will showcase its cultural heritage and the vision of Auroville, Tamil Nadu will convey the message of prosperity through Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Uttar Pradesh will present the culture of Bundelkhand. West Bengal will highlight its historic role in the freedom movement, Madhya Pradesh will commemorate the contributions of Punyashlok Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, and Punjab will present a tableau dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

Tableaux from central ministries and departments will also be major attractions. The Air Headquarters veterans’ tableau will depict the role of the armed forces in nation-building, the Naval Headquarters will highlight the concept of “Prosperity from the Seas”, while the Department of Military Affairs will present a tri-services tableau showcasing joint military strength through Operation Sindoor. The Ministry of Culture will present “Vande Mataram – The Call of the Nation’s Soul”. The Department of School Education and Literacy will showcase the journey of education towards a developed India through National Education Policy 2020. The Ministry of AYUSH will focus on “The System of AYUSH, the Mantra of Health”. The Ministry of Home Affairs will depict 25 years of resilience after the Bhuj earthquake, the new people-centric criminal justice system and disaster management capabilities.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will present “Bharat Katha: Shruti, Kriti, Drishti”, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj will showcase the SVAMITVA Scheme, the Ministry of Power will highlight an energy-rich India through “Prakash Ganga”, and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will present the role of skills in building a future-ready, self-reliant India.

Along with the tableaux, around 2,500 artists will present cultural performances, ensuring that the Republic Day Parade 2026 becomes a grand visual celebration of India’s heritage, unity and progress.

The Republic Day celebrations will formally conclude with the Beating Retreat Ceremony on 29 January 2026 at Vijay Chowk, New Delhi, symbolizing the ceremonial end of the parade with band performances. However, the festivities of Bharat Parv will continue at the Red Fort complex until 31 January 2026.

Thus, on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, New Delhi will once again remain fully immersed for eight days in a magnificent celebration of patriotism, cultural pride and democratic traditions.
