###MPUAT Celebrates 77th Republic Day with Grandeur and Patriotic Fervour

Udaipur,The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity at the sports ground of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Pratap Singh, hoisted the National Flag. The Chief Guest inspected the parade and received the salute from NCC, NSS, and Scout & Guide cadets.


Addressing students, faculty members, and staff, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratap Singh highlighted the significance of Republic Day as a reminder of the sacrifices of freedom fighters, the importance of the Constitution, national unity, patriotism, and the vital role of students in nation-building. He emphasized that Republic Day 2026 symbolizes India’s democratic values, constitutional strength, and citizens’ rights. Urging everyone to adopt duty and discipline in life, he remarked that a strong republic is built when both the system (tantra) and the people (gan) are responsible. He also underlined the three pillars of the university—education, research, and extension.

Achievements in Education:
From Rajasthan College of Agriculture, student Nandini Nagda was selected to participate in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi, while Piyusha Sharma was selected for the Prime Minister’s Fellowship. Additionally, students Aishwarya Dhakad, Khushi Dhakad, and Muskan Haritwal were awarded the prestigious NAAS Kanya Fellowship. Aviraj Singh, a student of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, secured 5th position in the 68th National Shooting Championship (Shotgun event) held in New Delhi, emerging as the only student from Rajasthan among the top five.

Research Achievements:
The opium variety developed by the university, “Chetak Opium,” was identified for national-level approval. In 2025, four crop varieties—Groundnut (Pratap Groundnut-4), Ashwagandha (Pratap Ashwagandha-1), Asalia (Pratap Asalia-1), and Isabgol (Pratap Isabgol-1)—were officially notified in the Gazette of India.

Extension Education:
During 2025, the Directorate and Krishi Vigyan Kendras organized farmer and farmer-training programmes. A total of 8 long-term and 17 short-term trainings based on agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, and integrated farming systems were conducted, benefiting 873 participants. In addition, 77 institutional, 95 non-institutional, and 150 sponsored trainings were organized, with 12,212 trainees participating.

On this occasion, university students presented cultural programmes, including patriotic songs and dances, showcasing their talent and preparation. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the students for their efforts and motivated them to contribute actively to the nation’s development.

For their outstanding services, dedication, and notable achievements, two faculty members, three team awards, and three special awards were presented. Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to supporting staff and students. Moreover, 16 progressive farmers from Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, and Bhilwara districts were honoured for their innovations and significant contributions to agriculture.

Flag hoisting was also conducted at all university units. At Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Dr. S.S. Lakhawat; College of Community and Applied Sciences, Dr. Dhriti Solanki; Directorate of Research, Dr. Arvind Verma; College of Agricultural Engineering, Dr. Sunil Joshi; and Directorate of Extension Education, Dr. R.L. Soni, hoisted the National Flag along with their staff and faculty members.

The programme was attended by Deans, Directors, the Finance Controller, the Controller of Examinations, other officers, staff members, and students. The parade was led by Under Officer Chanchal Chaudhary, and the programme was compered by Vishakha Bansal.

After the ceremony, members of the Senior Officers’ Council and other university authorities participated in a tree plantation drive, followed by sports competitions. The University Registrar, Mr. Ashok Kumar, proposed a vote of thanks, while Finance Controller Mrs. Darshana Gupta extended warm greetings to all on the occasion of Republic Day.
