Colonel Aditya Joshi from Udaipur Awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal

Udaipur:  On the eve of the **77th Republic Day**, **Colonel Aditya Joshi** of the **Army Medical Corps**, Udaipur, has been announced as a recipient of the **Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM)**. This prestigious award, conferred by the **President of India**, will be formally presented to him in **June** in recognition of his **outstanding, dedicated, and exemplary medical service to the nation and the Armed Forces**.

A graduate in medicine from the **Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (2001)**, Colonel Joshi completed his **postgraduate studies in Anesthesia (2009)** and a **post-doctoral fellowship in Critical Care from Medanta (2019)**. He is widely recognized for his **expertise in critical care, calm temperament, and committed patient care**.

During the challenging **COVID-19 pandemic**, he worked tirelessly, saving numerous critically ill patients. His **expertise in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)** has been particularly noteworthy in managing highly complex cases. For his exceptional contributions during and after the pandemic, he has received commendations from the **Army Commander (Eastern Command)** and the **Chief of Army Staff (COAS)**, and has been honored with the **Mendelian Award**.

Currently, Colonel Joshi serves as the **Head of Critical Care at the Army Hospital (Research & Referral)**, one of the Armed Forces’ most prestigious medical institutions.

Over his **25-year distinguished military career**, he has served in sensitive regions including **Siachen, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, West Bengal, and Rajasthan**, as well as on **United Nations Peacekeeping missions in Lebanon**, demonstrating unwavering dedication to the nation and the Armed Forces.

A **second-generation military officer**, Colonel Joshi is the son of **retired Brigadier (Dr.) C.P. Joshi (AMC)**, inheriting a legacy of patriotism and service.

Colonel Joshi credits **his wife, Mrs. Amrita Joshi**, for supporting him throughout his demanding duties, often spanning **12 to 18 hours**, while maintaining strength and stability at home.
