Tributes Paid to Mahatma Gandhi on His Death Anniversary and Martyrs’ Day; One-Day Seminar Held

Udaipur: On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary and Martyrs’ Day, a tribute ceremony was held at the Chancellor’s Secretariat Auditorium of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University. University Chancellor Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot offered floral tributes to Gandhi Ji’s portrait and said that Gandhi Ji was a strong advocate of both Swaraj (self-rule) and Ram Raj (ideal governance). He viewed the two as interconnected, with clear images of both ideals in his mind.

Prof. Sarangdevot quoted from Gandhi Ji’s work *“Mere Sapno Ka Bharat”* where Gandhi Ji wrote that India is fundamentally a land of action, and his greatest dream for this land of action was the establishment of Ram Raj. He added that Mahatma Gandhi’s life itself is a model for society. Gandhi Ji is remembered not only as a political leader but also as a saintly figure. His principles offered the modern world a philosophy of truth and nonviolence, inspiring global figures from Martin Luther King Jr. to Barack Obama. Gandhi Ji’s ideas are widely respected worldwide, and people continue to strive to follow his principles.

Prof. Sarangdevot emphasized that whenever Gandhi Ji’s name is mentioned, the first words that come to mind are **truth** and **nonviolence**. By remaining steadfast to truth, Gandhi Ji dedicated his entire life to the nation. His ideas not only helped India gain independence but also brought numerous social reforms. His concepts of truth, nonviolence, Swaraj, and Satyagraha are eternal. His strength lay in leading a simple life, holding high ideals, and maintaining an unwavering love for nature. It was this combination that earned him the affectionate title of *Bapu* among Indians. His love for humanity and nature is evident, with nonviolence being the greatest example of his philosophy.

On this occasion, the Registrar Dr. Tarun Shrimali, along with Dr. Bhawanipal Singh Rathod, Dr. Ami Rathod, Dr. Chandresh Chhatlani, Dr. Udaybhan Singh, Private Secretary Krishnakant Kumawat, Jitendra Singh Chauhan, Dr. Hemant Sahu, Laharnath, Sawaram Dangi, Dr. Rohit Kumawat, Dr. Uttam Sharma, Komal Bhati, and other officials and staff paid floral tributes to Gandhi Ji’s portrait and bowed in respect.
