Workshop on Traditional Materials and Techniques Used in Mewar Painting

Udaipur:** Under the guidance of the Chairman and Managing Trustee of the **Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur**, a special educational program was organized at the **City Palace Museum** for students and faculty of the **Faculty of Fine Arts, Pacific University, Udaipur**. The program aimed to familiarize participants with the **traditional materials and techniques used in creating Mewar paintings.**

The workshop began with an interactive session with the Foundation’s **conservation experts**, who provided detailed insights into the various **pigments traditionally used** in Mewar art and their application methods. This was followed by a **live demonstration showing Mewar paintings under different light spectrums**, offering students a hands-on understanding of the **scientific aspects of art conservation and study.**

Subsequently, the museum team conducted a **curatorial walkthrough of the recently held exhibition “Premarpan: Beyond the Worldly Boundaries – The Eternal Bond in Painting”**, highlighting the **themes and artistic features of the displayed works.**

The program concluded with a **practical session**, where participants applied the knowledge gained to create their own artworks, blending traditional techniques with their creative expression. The session was coordinated by **Ms. Anuja Mukherjee and Ms. Bhasha Shah.**

Participants appreciated the **unique connection between art and science** explored during the workshop and lauded the **City Palace Museum’s efforts** in organizing such knowledge-enriching programs.
