MPUAT, Udaipur Receives Best Centre Award for Energy Project in Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries

Udaipur: The Energy Project Centre for Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries, operating under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, has been honoured with the **Best Centre Award** for the year 2025. The award recognizes the centre’s **outstanding research, innovation, and effective extension activities**.

On this occasion, Project In-charge **Dr. N. L. Panwar** stated that this achievement is the result of the dedicated efforts, commitment, and collaborative work of the entire team. He expressed his gratitude to **ICAR, the university administration, and all collaborating scientists and staff** for their continuous support.

The award was conferred during the **three-day Annual Workshop (January 29–31, 2026)** of the **All India Coordinated Research Project on Energy in Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries**, held at **Anand Agricultural University, Gujarat**. Among **16 centres across the country**, the centre operating under the **Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, MPUAT, Udaipur**, was declared the **Best Centre**.

The award was presented by **Dr. S. N. Jha, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering), ICAR**. Scientists **Dr. Narayan Lal Panwar** and **Dr. Nikita Wadhawan** are currently working under this project. The award was granted in view of the **quality of research conducted by the department and its national relevance**.

Under this project, the university is actively working on **sodium-ion battery technology**, with a focus on improving its quality and performance. Dr. Panwar highlighted that **all materials used in the battery are indigenously manufactured**, contributing significantly to the vision of **“Make in India.”**

Expressing his happiness on the centre receiving the **Best Centre Award**, **Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pratap Singh** congratulated the entire team. He stated that this honour is a symbol of the university’s **strong research tradition, scientific excellence, and society-oriented approach**. He further noted that the research and extension activities carried out by the centre have provided **direct benefits to farmers** and have given a **new direction to innovation in the agricultural sector**. He appreciated the scientists’ dedication, discipline, and collective efforts.

**Director of Research, Dr. Arvind Verma**, also extended his heartfelt congratulations, stating that this achievement reflects the **commitment, teamwork, and continuous hard work** of the centre’s scientists, technical staff, and support personnel. He emphasized that the **high-quality research and effective extension activities** undertaken by the centre not only demonstrate scientific excellence but also provide **practical solutions to farmers’ problems**, thereby making a significant contribution to agricultural development. He expressed hope that the centre would continue to work with the same enthusiasm in the future for **innovation, technology development, and farmer welfare**, and would serve as a **source of inspiration for other centres**.
