####Future-Ready Urban Planning Key to Citizen-Centric Cities: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that urban development projects must be planned with a clear focus on future needs so that every city in Rajasthan emerges as a sustainable, citizen-centric model of development. He stressed that along with quality, strict adherence to project timelines is essential to ensure timely benefits for the public.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office on Monday, Shri Sharma directed officials to accelerate the implementation of ongoing urban infrastructure projects related to roads, sewerage systems, solid waste management, sanitation, drinking water, and housing. He underlined that urban planning should be holistic and forward-looking, keeping in mind rapid urbanization and the growing expectations of citizens.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to develop a model for bus stand construction in urban areas, categorizing them according to local requirements and city size. This, he said, would improve urban mobility and provide better facilities for commuters.

Focus on Timely Disposal of Pending Legal Cases

Shri Sharma laid special emphasis on the expeditious disposal of pending judicial cases related to urban development projects. He directed departments to ensure full preparedness at their level and warned that accountability would be fixed in cases where delays occur due to departmental negligence.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of major infrastructure projects including Jaipur Metro Phase-2, various flyovers, Road Under Bridges (RUBs), elevated roads, and ongoing road construction works in several cities. He also took stock of the implementation of sewerage lines, sewerage master plans, and drainage projects.

Recognizing local challenges, Shri Sharma instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for smooth traffic movement and effective water drainage in Sikar city, ensuring long-term urban resilience.

Senior Officials Present

The meeting was attended by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Urban Development and Autonomous Governance Shri Jhabar Singh Kharra, Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, along with senior officials from the Chief Minister’s Office, Finance Department, and Urban Development, Housing and Local Self-Government Department.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming Rajasthan’s cities into modern, well-planned urban centers that prioritize citizens’ needs while ensuring sustainable growth.
