India Shines at Asian Lacrosse Games, Women’s Team Thrashes Pakistan

Udaipur: At the Asian Lacrosse Games 2025–26 being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Indian women’s and men’s lacrosse teams delivered outstanding performances, bringing pride and glory to the nation. The victories by both teams have sparked excitement and a sense of pride among Indian sports enthusiasts.
In the women’s round-robin league match, the Indian women’s team adopted an aggressive approach right from the start and defeated Pakistan by a commanding margin of 20–9 goals. Indian players dominated every quarter of the match, and the Pakistani team was unable to withstand India’s pace and strategy.
In this historic victory, Jula Kumari Gurjar and Jahnavi Rathore were the top scorers, netting 7 goals each, while Sunita Meena added 2 goals to further strengthen India’s lead.
Additionally, Yashoda Gameti, Dali Gameti, Meera Douja, and Roshni Bose contributed one goal each, showcasing the team’s collective strength. The defensive unit also played a crucial role in the win, with goalkeeper Yashishtha Batra and defenders Khushboo and Mukan Gurjar displaying excellent coordination and foiling several Pakistani attacks.
In the men’s category, India secured a hard-fought 7–5 goal victory against the physically strong Iraqi team, taking a confident step towards the title clash. The match witnessed intense competition throughout, but the Indian players’ composure, strategy, and fitness proved decisive. Mohanlal Gameti starred with 5 goals, while Khumaram Gameti scored 2 goals to seal the win.
Before the match, Vipul Bawa, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy, visited the ground to encourage the Indian team. He met team manager Imran Lari, Shahzad Khan, Saurabh Vetal, technical official Shakeel Khan, coach Neeraj Batra, and other team members, extending his best wishes. His encouragement further boosted the morale of the players.
India’s impressive performance has clearly highlighted the country’s growing strength in lacrosse at the Asian level, raising expectations for even better results in upcoming matches. Celebrating the victories, Lacrosse Federation of India CEO Tausif Lari, federation office bearers, state associations, Rajasthan Lacrosse Association President Ashok Parnami, and lacrosse promoter and Udaipur Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani congratulated the teams and expressed their happiness.
