Child Marriage Free Chariot Campaign Flagged Off

 

Udaipur, Under the nationwide Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a public awareness chariot rally was launched in Udaipur as part of the 100-day special campaign aimed at preventing child marriage. The initiative was organized jointly by the District Administration, District Legal Services Authority, Department of Child Rights, District Child Protection Unit, Gayatri Seva Sansthan, and Just Rights for Children.

The awareness rath was flagged off from the District Collectorate premises by District Legal Services Authority Secretary Kuldeep Sharma, Additional District Collector (Administration) Deependra Singh Rathore, and Rajasthan State Child Commission Member Dhruv Kumar Kavya.

Addressing the gathering, Kuldeep Sharma stated that child marriage is not only a deep-rooted social evil but also a punishable legal offence, with strict provisions for action against all involved. He urged citizens neither to conduct nor support such practices. Dhruv Kumar Kavya emphasized that preventing child marriage is not solely the responsibility of the administration but a collective duty of society. Deependra Singh Rathore highlighted the need for participation from every section of society and noted that the 100-day special campaign aims to create widespread public awareness to eliminate this social malpractice.

Deputy Director of the Child Rights Department K.K. Chandravanshi informed that incidents of child marriage can be reported through the Child Helpline at 1098. Program Coordinator of Gayatri Seva Sansthan, Nitin Paliwal, said the awareness chariot would travel across rural areas of the district to spread information about the harmful consequences of child marriage and relevant legal provisions. Information may also be shared via the institution’s helpline 8239999288 or the police helpline 112, with complete confidentiality assured for informants.

Members present on the occasion included District Child Welfare Committee member Anjan Joshi, Women Empowerment Department Deputy Director Sanjay Joshi, the Child Helpline team, Rajkumar Jeengar and Banwari Lal from the Child Rights Department, and Vivek Paliwal from Gayatri Seva Sansthan, among others.
