Agricultural Entrepreneurship – Farmers’ Economic Empowerment and Livelihood Security

Udaipur: After a gap of 22 years, a Regional Agricultural Fair–2026 is being organized in Udaipur. A press conference regarding the fair was held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11:30 AM at the Directorate of Extension Education premises, in the presence of print and electronic media personnel.
During the press conference, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, provided detailed information about the Regional Agricultural Fair. He informed that the Regional Agricultural Fair–2026, sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, will be organized from February 7 to 9, 2026.
This fair is being organized for farmers from the western states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Daman & Diu. The main theme of the fair is “Agricultural Entrepreneurship – Farmers’ Economic Empowerment and Livelihood Security.”
Activities and Key Attractions
The three-day agricultural fair will feature numerous activities for farmers, including:
•    Various exhibitions
•    Live demonstration units
•    Farmer–scientist interactions
•    Farmer field visits
•    Visits to scientific experimental fields
•    Cultural programs
Major attractions of the fair will include drone technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), high-tech horticulture, and solar energy solutions. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, provides financial assistance for organizing such regional agricultural fairs. The primary objective of these fairs is to introduce farmers of western India to the latest and modern agricultural technologies.
Venue, Timings, and Participation
The fair will be held from February 7 to 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, at the Sports Ground of Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur.
Approximately 10,000 to 15,000 farmers, including women farmers, progressive farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), entrepreneurs, and other renowned personalities from the western region of the country, are expected to participate.
Around 80 exhibition stalls will be set up by agricultural service providers, agencies, agricultural product vendors, agri-startups, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), input distributors, agricultural engineering machinery manufacturers, farmer organizations, and seed and fertilizer dealers. These stalls will showcase the latest and modern agricultural innovations, directly benefiting farmers.
The fair aims to establish effective coordination between the farming community and entrepreneurs, while successfully demonstrating advanced agricultural technologies and innovations.
Fruit, Flower, and Vegetable Exhibition
On the occasion of the Regional Agricultural Fair, a large-scale Fruit, Flower, and Vegetable Exhibition will also be organized. Farmers will receive information on improved varieties, advanced technologies, and the latest innovations related to crops, fruits, flowers, and vegetables.
Several competitions related to fruits, flowers, vegetables, and crops will also be organized. City residents of Udaipur and women’s groups may also participate by displaying value-added products such as jam, jelly, pickles, preserves, candies, and papad.

Competitions will include:
•    Flower competitions: Antirrhinum, Gladiolus, Aster, Dahlia, Anthurium, Gazania, Petunia, Phlox, Marigold, Gerbera, Verbena, Calendula, Rose (potted plants and cut flowers)
•    Foliage plants: Croton, Palm, Philodendron, Insulin plant, Dieffenbachia, Aralia, Cactus, Ferns, and others
•    Fruit competitions: Papaya, Orange, Amla, Guava, Lemon
•    Vegetable competitions: Pea, Tomato, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Green Chili, Radish, Brinjal, Carrot, and other vegetables
Participants
The fair will witness participation from farmers, entrepreneurs, scientists, students, ICAR and other research institutions, State Agricultural Universities, State Agriculture Department, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department, NGOs, Farmer Producer Organizations, and Self-Help Groups.
