Free Acupressure & Health Awareness Camp for SC Hostel Students

###Dr Alpana Bohra’s Unique Initiative

Udaipur:With the belief that a healthy mind thrives in a healthy body, a free one-day Acupressure Awareness and Training Camp was organised for girls residing in the Government College-level SC Hostel (SJED Department). The camp was jointly conducted by the Consumer Protection Organisation and Inner Wheel Club Udaipur and was held from 5.00 pm to 8.30 pm.

On the occasion, Inner Wheel Club Udaipur President Mrs Chandrakala Kothari, Secretary Babita Jain and Rashmi Pagaria warmly welcomed the chief speaker, Nari Shakti awardee Dr Alpana Bohra, by presenting an uparna.

Dr Alpana Bohra—President, Women’s Wing, Consumer Protection Organisation, Udaipur district, and former senior officer at Rolta India Limited, Mumbai—shared in-depth insights into the benefits and techniques of acupressure therapy.

She highlighted the effectiveness of acupressure in managing exam stress, anxiety, insomnia, lack of concentration and mental restlessness. Dr Bohra explained that during examination periods, mental pressure drains the body’s energy and weakens digestion, making emotional balance extremely important. She also demonstrated special acupressure points to calm the mind and relax the eyes.

Emphasising a holistic lifestyle, she spoke about the benefits of walking, practising pranayama, walking barefoot on the ground and sitting on grass (grounding). She also stressed the importance of a balanced diet including fruits, vegetables, dry fruits and protein

Through live demonstrations, Dr Bohra showcased acupressure points for relief from migraine, headaches, sinus issues, cervical and back pain, high and low blood pressure, gas, bloating, acidity and constipation. The participants were encouraged to practise the techniques themselves. She noted that acupressure is a drug-free, safe and side-effect-free therapy that can easily be practised at home.

More than 65 students actively participated in the camp and pledged to incorporate acupressure practices into their daily routine. The initiative received wide appreciation from all attendees.

Hostel warden Sneha Chaudhary and the organisers assured that similar health awareness programmes would be organised in the future as well.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Inner Wheel Club Udaipur President Mrs Chandrakala Kothari.
