Major Action by Rural Police Under the Leadership of Kota Rural SP Sujit Shankar

Kota: Kota Rural Superintendent of Police Mr. Sujit Shankar, during a press conference on Tuesday, informed the media that Operation Route Clearance is being carried out against smugglers and criminals involved in drug abuse and illegal activities. He stated that, through sustained and dedicated efforts, the rural police teams have conducted more than 22 major actions in the past 40 days, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of narcotic substances, illegal weapons, and silver.
SP Shankar informed that under this campaign, illegal narcotics worth ₹4,41,72,245 have been seized so far, and 37 illegal weapons have been recovered from the possession of arrested criminals.
Large-Scale Seizures Across Police Station Areas
The SP stated that strict action was taken against offenders involved in drug trafficking and illegal trade by forming special teams under the supervision of all Station House Officers, Circle Officers, and Additional SPs. During operations conducted across various police station areas over the last 40 days, the police seized:
•    885.32 kg of illegal poppy husk (doda chura)
•    220.599 kg of illegal ganja
•    1 kg 700 grams of illegal opium
•    12 grams of smack
•    49.43 kg of silver
Arrest of Criminals Claiming to Be “Kota’s Don”
SP Sujit Shankar also stated that action is being taken to curb habitual offenders. As part of this effort, accused involved in a contract killing and firing incident in Kaithoon and Baran, who claimed to be the “Don of Kota,” were arrested.
He informed that on January 8, complainant Abdul Qadir lodged a report stating that while he was sitting in his office, Sameer Ganja and Aafaq, along with an accomplice known as Tiwari Bachcha, arrived on a motorcycle. Sameer allegedly took out a pistol and fired at Abdul Qadir’s son, after which the accused fled the spot.
Arrest from Baran, Weapons Recovered
SP Shankar further stated that two days after the incident, the accused again attacked the complainant’s house. Acting swiftly, the police arrested Aafaq Hussain and Sameer Ganja, along with Sahil Hussain and Azruddin Chauhan, who were involved in planning the crime, from Shergarh, Baran. The police recovered two pistols, one knife, and cartridges from their possession.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Shakeel Mewati was the mastermind behind the firing incident. He had allegedly given a contract worth ₹3 lakh to kill the complainant, out of which ₹20,000 was paid as advance. Police teams are currently searching for Shakeel Mewati. The dispute is reported to be related to land dealings and planning issues.
Missing Minor Girls Traced Within 72 Hours
SP Sujit Shankar also informed that two minor girls who went missing from a residential school in Mandana were traced and detained safely within 72 hours. A missing report was filed by the school warden, following which special teams were formed. CCTV footage was examined, and information was gathered from relatives and friends. After extensive searches, the girls were traced in Bhanpura (Madhya Pradesh) and Surat (Gujarat) and were safely recovered.
The SP reiterated that the Kota Rural Police will continue strict action against drug traffickers, illegal arms dealers, and habitual offenders to ensure public safety and law and order in the district.
