Ahmedabad : The wedding anniversary celebration held at Shantigram in Ahmedabad was unlike any other. It marked the first wedding anniversary of Jeet Adani and Diva Adani, son and daughter-in-law of Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani. While many guests attended the event, they were neither celebrities nor business leaders. Instead, the evening was dedicated to women with disabilities and their families—many of whom were attending such a gathering for the first time.
What made the occasion truly special were the powerful stories of these women, whose lives had come to a standstill due to challenging circumstances. Their biggest concern had been financial insecurity. That evening was not just a celebration of an anniversary, but a celebration of freedom from those constraints. Inspired by Gautam Adani’s guiding philosophy, “Seva Hi Sadhana Hai” (Service is Worship), the initiative has brought meaningful change to their lives.
When Reena arrived at the Belvedere Club lawns in Shantigram on February 5, she was not thinking about speeches or ceremonies—she was thinking about her mother. Five years ago, a spinal injury abruptly ended her tailoring work, cutting off her family’s steady source of income. Financial dependence eroded her confidence and dignity.
That evening, when she received a Fixed Deposit (FD) certificate from the Adani Group, it marked a profound shift in her life. Though her physical condition remained unchanged, emotionally everything had transformed. The uncertainty that once clouded her future was replaced with hope and security.
Reena is one of the beneficiaries of the Adani Mangal Seva initiative this year. She is not alone. Similar stories belong to Savita Ben from Kutch, Nehal from Bharuch, and Kusum Ben from Dadka village. Though their circumstances differ, they share a common struggle. For them, Adani Mangal Seva has become not just assistance, but a pathway to a renewed life.
Mangal Seva is an initiative led by the Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of the Adani Group. Inspired by Gautam Adani’s philosophy of “Service as Worship,” the program focuses on women aged 25 to 40 with disabilities.
Rather than offering temporary relief, the initiative provides long-term financial security. Each beneficiary receives a fixed deposit of ₹10 lakh, structured to generate assured monthly income, with access to the principal amount after 10 years. The idea is simple yet powerful: dignity through financial certainty.
The program aims to empower 500 women every year, with an annual allocation of ₹50 crore to ensure its continuity and scale. On the occasion, Gautam Adani also released a book titled “Adani Mangal Seva: Journeys of Dignity and Hope,” which captures the transformative impact of the initiative on beneficiaries’ lives.
Though the Belvedere Club ceremony appeared simple, it became a lifetime memory for many families present. Beneficiaries shared their journeys—one young woman from a small town in Gujarat spoke about how assured income enabled her to enroll in a computer course. A hearing-impaired beneficiary, speaking through an interpreter, shared that she no longer feels like a burden on her family. In one touching moment, a mother and daughter—both beneficiaries at different times—sat side by side, reflecting a journey from uncertainty to stability.
The origins of Mangal Seva are equally inspiring. Before their wedding on February 7, 2025, Jeet and Diva Adani resolved to mark this milestone through service rather than extravagance. On February 5, 2025, they pledged to support newly married women with disabilities by providing long-term financial security. What began as a personal commitment evolved into an institutional initiative under the Adani Foundation, in partnership with grassroots organization Youth for Jobs. All beneficiaries hold a valid Unique Disability ID (UDID).
The event began with prayers, followed by the distribution of ₹10 lakh FD certificates to beneficiaries. Cultural performances, including Garba and fusion music by the Ahmedabad Blind Association, added warmth to the evening.
In a social media post, Gautam Adani wrote:
“On this very day last year, they took a pledge to support 500 newly married women with disabilities every year with ₹10 lakh each. It continues today with the same dedication. It gives me immense satisfaction and gratitude. When a daughter regains her smile and confidence, that moment surpasses even the greatest achievements and wealth in the world. As a father, I feel blessed that my children are sharing their happiness by bringing hope and dignity to many families.”
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, said, “Today is an emotional and proud moment. We are here not just for a program, but to honor dignity, hope, dreams, and empowerment. The inspiration behind Adani Mangal Seva comes from a simple yet profound belief—that personal joy finds its highest meaning when shared for collective welfare.”
Jeet Adani remarked, “Mangal Seva has taught us that sometimes the greatest support is the one that comes quietly—steady, reliable, and respectful. This is not a one-time act for us; it is a responsibility we will continue to uphold.”
Diva Adani added, “Adani Mangal Seva is built on the belief that security should be permanent and dignity should never depend on circumstances.”
As the evening drew to a close, families lingered—some capturing photographs, others silently absorbing the moment. For women like Reena, the night did not symbolize an ending, but the lifting of an invisible burden.
Adani Mangal Seva is not merely charity or celebration—it is a thoughtful mission to transform rare moments of trust into lasting security, dignity, and independence.
