Maharana Bhupal Singh’s Legacy Remembered at Birth Anniversary Seminar in Udaipur

Udaipur: On the third day of the five-day 142nd birth anniversary celebrations of Maharana Bhupal Singh, a seminar was organized at the Vice-Chancellor’s Auditorium under the joint aegis of Lokjan Seva Sansthan and Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth. The session was chaired by Chancellor Bhanwar Lal Gurjar.
Institution President Professor Vimal Sharma informed that the seminar was based on the theme “Mewar during the Era of Maharana Bhupal Singh.” Professor Sushila Shaktawat from Jodhpur University attended as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests included former Vice-Chancellor Dr. Uma Shankar Sharma, former judge Sharangdhar Parihar, and poet Dr. Madhu Agarwal.
In his presidential address, Bhanwar Lal Gurjar praised Maharana Bhupal Singh’s unparalleled contribution to the establishment and expansion of Shramjeevi College and Vidyapeeth. He recalled that during his reign, when nearly 2,500 students would disperse after evening classes, every street of the city would come alive with vibrancy.
Chief Guest Dr. Sushila Shaktawat described Maharana Bhupal Singh’s rule as the beginning of a liberal and reformist era. Former judge Sharangdhar Parihar, referring to historical accounts, spoke about Mewar’s glorious and ancient history, stating that it dates back nearly 7,000 years before Christ, and mentioned the donation of 60,000 bighas of land to the Menaria community by King Mandhata.
Dr. Uma Shankar Sharma elaborated on the historical background of Harit Rishi and Nagda Brahma.
Technical Papers Presented
Several research papers were presented during the seminar:
•    Dr. J.K. Ojha discussed Maharana Bhupal Singh’s religious tolerance and described the Lakshachandi Mahayagya and other religious events held during his reign.
•    Dr. Rajendra Nath Purohit presented a detailed account of Maharana Bhupal Singh’s life and his devout daily routine.
•    Dr. Basant Kashyap delivered an in-depth analysis of Mewar’s painting tradition and highlighted the artistic styles of national award-winning artists from Udaipur.
•    Dr. Manish Shrimali’s paper titled “Udaipur during the Reign of Maharana Bhupal Singh,” along with four other research papers, was highly appreciated and approved for inclusion in an upcoming publication.
The seminar was conducted by Dr. Kul Shekhar Vyas, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Vimal Sharma.
General Secretary Jai Kishan Chaubey informed that a poetry symposium will be organized on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Somani Auditorium of Shramjeevi College.
