Jammu Rail Division Collects ₹91,030 Fine from 190 Ticketless Passengers

Jammu: Under the guidance of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, the Jammu Railway Division continues its efforts to provide high-quality service to passengers. On Saturday, February 14, teams led by Shri Singhal conducted extensive ticket-checking drives across the Katra–Jammu–Pathankot rail section, as well as the Budgam–Banihal section in the Kashmir Valley, to ensure smooth travel for ticketed passengers, curb unauthorized travel, and raise awareness about railway rules.

During the campaign, railway staff carried out comprehensive ticket inspections both on trains and at stations. According to Public Relations Inspector Raghavendra Singh, a total of 190 ticketless passengers were caught, and approximately ₹91,030 in fines was collected.

The drive saw active participation from the Assistant Commercial Manager of the division, Chief Ticket Inspector of Jammu, ticket-checking staff, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Shri Uchit Singhal explained that the objective of such ticket-checking campaigns is to encourage passengers to travel with valid tickets, ensuring comfort for those with reserved seats. He also highlighted that during emergencies when other transport modes may not be available, the railway serves as a symbol of reliability. Periodic inspections help prevent overcrowding caused by unauthorized travelers.

Passengers were also educated about purchasing tickets via the **Rail One App** and were informed about three special discounts available until July 14, 2026, to make their journeys smarter and more convenient.

The Jammu Division appeals to passengers to always travel with valid tickets, use foot overbridges to move between platforms, and contribute to keeping railway premises clean and safe.
