Ajmer Receives Multiple Development Projects in Rajasthan Budget Due to Efforts of Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani

Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani has been discharging his responsibilities in the Assembly with remarkable efficiency and introducing innovative practices that have earned him recognition at national and international levels. At the same time, he has shown deep interest in the development of his hometown, Ajmer. Due to his sustained efforts, Ajmer has once again received several significant projects in the Rajasthan Budget for the financial year 2026–27.
Among the major announcements is the development of the historic Taragarh Fort as a pride center of Ajmer city. A project for the establishment of a Maharshi Dayanand Panorama in Ajmer has also been included. Additionally, provision has been made for the construction of a new Revenue Building at a cost of ₹150 crore. Budget approval has also been granted to make Ajmer a signal-free city.
Funds have been sanctioned for the establishment of modular operation theatres at JLN Hospital. Approval has also been given for developing a public convenience center for residents and tourists. A smart parking facility will be constructed under the PPP model. The state budget has approved the establishment of a Basic Life Support Training Center in Ajmer.
An amount of ₹200 crore has been sanctioned for improving the drainage system in the city. Funds have also been allocated for widening the Pushkar Valley Road. Ajmer district headquarters will see the establishment of the state’s first AI Training Center. A separate new police outpost will be set up in Makadwali.
With budget approval, a Raj Sakhi Center will also be established in Ajmer, along with a Noise Monitoring Station. Renovation and drainage-related works will be carried out at the Makadwali and Chachiyawas ponds. The Model Garden will be developed as an “Oxyzone.” Funds have been approved to start Fiber-to-Home Technician trade courses.
Furthermore, ₹100 crore has been sanctioned for diverting excess monsoon water and treated STP water from Ana Sagar Lake to Phool Sagar Kayad and up to Roopangarh. This project will include flood protection and drainage works, provide irrigation facilities for approximately 1,200 hectares of land, and meet industrial water requirements.
The budget will be passed after discussion in the Assembly, and it is possible that more announcements for Ajmer may follow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Ajmer on February 28, and his visit may bring additional benefits to Ajmer and Pushkar.
Located in central Rajasthan amidst the Aravalli hills, Ajmer is historically, religiously, culturally, and educationally significant. It is a major pilgrimage and tourism destination. Ajmer represents a confluence of faith, education, culture, and national unity, giving it a distinct identity not only in Rajasthan but across India.
Due to its central location, Ajmer is a key transportation hub, situated on the Delhi–Ahmedabad railway route and well connected by road to major cities of the state. Tourism, education, and trade form the backbone of its economy. Mayo College, established in 1875, is one of the country’s most prestigious residential schools. Ajmer is also home to the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) headquarters and the state Revenue Board, strengthening its administrative and educational prominence.
Assembly Speaker and Ajmer North MLA Vasudev Devnani has also taken steps to rename several places in Ajmer that were considered symbols of colonial rule, reconnecting them with local culture and history. Notable changes include renaming Foy Sagar as “Varun Sagar,” King Edward Memorial as “Maharshi Dayanand Vishrant Grih,” and Hotel Khadim as “Ajaymeru.” The Elevated Road has been renamed “Ram Setu,” and recently Christian Ganj Police Station and outpost were renamed “Krishnaganj.” According to Devnani, these steps aim to honor Sanatan heritage and restore the city’s original identity.
Devnani continues to show deep commitment to Ajmer’s development, frequently visiting the city to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for various projects. Recently, due to his efforts, the state government approved ₹20 crore for development works at the Girls’ Sainik School in Ajmer. Even during his stay in Jaipur, he remains actively engaged in discussions with the Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, the Chief Secretary, and senior officials to ensure completion of pending development projects for Ajmer. His energy and dedication at this stage of life are truly remarkable.
