Star Actors Hiten Tejwani and Tarun Khanna to Host India’s First True Vertical Awards
Mumbai: When we talk about the entertainment industry in India today, the vertical micro-drama format is emerging as the fastest-growing segment, with over 20 million vertical drama subscribers. In just a few years, this format has evolved into a massive global market, and audiences everywhere are becoming increasingly passionate about vertical series.
Recognizing this growing craze, filmmaker and web series producer-director Mohd. Shameem Fareedi of TrueDreams Entertainment has taken a significant step by launching India’s first awards dedicated exclusively to vertical micro-drama — the True Vertical Awards.
Organized under the banner of TrueDreams Entertainment, the awards aim to give vertical cinema a distinct identity and write a new chapter in the world of entertainment accolades. Announcing the initiative, Mohd. Shameem Fareedi stated that the awards will recognize excellence across multiple categories, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Supporting Artist, Music Director, Choreographer, Director of Photography (DOP), and various technical awards. There will also be categories honoring regional language content.
Popular television and film actors Hiten Tejwani and Tarun Khanna have joined the event as hosts, adding star power to the prestigious occasion. Speaking at the press conference, Hiten Tejwani described the awards as a commendable initiative by Shameem Fareedi. He emphasized that the platform would provide fresh energy and encouragement to artists working in the vertical format. Expressing his excitement, Hiten shared that the show will feature many innovative elements and powerful performances. Notably, the awards will honor everyone from spot boys and technicians to leading artists.
Organizer Shameem Fareedi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hiten Tejwani and Tarun Khanna for supporting the initiative, stating that their association has strengthened the event.
Tarun Khanna also shared his enthusiasm, calling the launch of the True Vertical Awards a bold and visionary step considering the bright future of vertical entertainment. He mentioned that despite his busy schedule, he readily agreed to be part of the event when approached. Praising the hard work of Shameem and his team, Tarun confidently stated that the awards have the potential to compete with some of Bollywood’s biggest award shows.
The event will also see the presence of well-known personalities from the entertainment industry, including stand-up comedians Rahman Khan and Rajeev Nigam, along with Amit Behl, Wakar Sheikh, Sachin Tyagi, Deepshikha Pandey, and Supriya, among others.
Taking the show to the next level, several star performers such as Naina Chhabra, Ashish, Vasant Kumar, Sonalika Prasad, Ayesha Siddiqui, Hrishikesh Ingle, Jia Chauhan, Dishant Gulia, Srishti Gupta, and Bhavani Gandhi will deliver high-energy performances. The event is being choreographed by Irshad, who is currently fully engaged in rehearsals to ensure a spectacular show.
The True Vertical Awards will be held on February 24 at Thakur College, New Link Road, Kandivali West, Mumbai.
