Jammu: For those planning a trip to Kashmir, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has arranged special Vistadome coaches on select trains to enhance the travel experience. Passengers seated in these coaches can enjoy panoramic views of Kashmir’s valleys from every angle without changing their seat.
Jammu Division Public Relations Inspector, Shri Raghavendra Singh, stated that to provide a better journey experience for tourists and local travelers, train number 04688/87, which previously ran between Budgam and Banihal, has been extended to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra since February 11.
This special train is quickly becoming a preferred choice for passengers traveling between Kashmir and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The extension has improved connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir.
In the past week, over 4,000 passengers traveled in the general coaches between Budgam and Katra. Regarding the Vistadome coach, more than 400 passengers have experienced its scenic advantages so far.
The train also stops at stations including Khari, Subber, Sangaldan, Sawalkot, Duga, Bakal, and Riasi, providing a beneficial travel option for local residents. Over 2,000 people from these stations have utilized this service, demonstrating the positive impact of the Railway’s passenger-friendly initiatives.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Shri Uchit Singhal, remarked that extending the train service to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra instead of Banihal has greatly facilitated travel for local residents while offering a reliable option for tourists.

Vistadome coaches, introduced by Indian Railways, feature glass ceilings and large panoramic windows, providing passengers with 360-degree scenic views of valleys, mountains, tunnels, and natural landscapes. These coaches are specifically designed for sightseeing.
