From Mahua to Fatehsagar, the Spirit of Udaipur Echoes Across the Fairgrounds
Udaipur, The fifth day of the divisional-level Amrita Haat Fair witnessed an overwhelming response as a massive crowd gathered to celebrate culture, enterprise, and community spirit. City residents, women self-help groups, and visitors participated enthusiastically, making the fair vibrant and lively throughout the day. Shopping at stalls, engaging competitions, and an entertaining evening fair show added to the festive atmosphere.
Showcasing Udaipur’s ‘Panch Gaurav’
The highlight of the day was the special ‘Panch Gaurav’ theme, which illuminated Udaipur’s unique identity through its iconic elements — Mahua, swimming excellence, the marble industry, custard apple (Sitaphal), and the city’s pride, Fateh Sagar Lake and Lake Pichola. Visitors were informed about how these elements form an integral part of Udaipur’s cultural, natural, and economic heritage.
A competition based on the ‘Panch Gaurav’ theme was also organized, with participants showcasing their knowledge and enthusiasm. Winners were felicitated and encouraged for their active participation.
Competitions and Cultural Celebrations
Under the “One Minute Show” segment, a balloon balance competition drew energetic participation from women and visitors alike. The fair also hosted a Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao poster competition, where 20 young girls expressed powerful messages on girls’ education, equal rights, and empowerment through creative artwork.
Adding vibrant cultural hues to the celebration, women from self-help groups performed Dandiya Raas in traditional attire, captivating the audience with synchronized group dances and festive spirit.
Upcoming Attractions
Gender expert Vimla Virawal, while conducting the program, announced exciting activities for the upcoming day, including a puppet show, Beti Janmotsav, and additional One Minute Show events. Under the Amrita Premium League, badminton and traditional Langdi Tang races will also be organized.

The Deputy Director of the Women Empowerment Department emphasized in her address that the Amrita Haat Fair serves as a powerful platform for women’s economic empowerment. Such initiatives connect self-help groups to markets, provide recognition to their products, and contribute significantly toward the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. She encouraged women to actively benefit from government schemes and embrace self-employment and entrepreneurship.
