Chittorgarh: The Chittorgarh Literature Festival–2026, part of the 21st-century Rajasthan literary movement, was grandly inaugurated on Wednesday. The first day of this national literary festival, held on the sacred grounds of historic Chittorgarh, witnessed enthusiastic participation from writers, scholars, and artists from across the country.
The opening session was graced by Padma Shri Dr. C.P. Deval, Padma Shri Janki Ram Bhand, MP C.P. Joshi, District Collector Alok Ranjan, senior literary figure Vinod Joshi, and Anil Saxena ‘Lalkaar’, founder and promoter of the 21st-century Rajasthan literary movement.
Padma Shri Dr. C.P. Deval formally announced the festival, emphasizing that such events serve as a powerful medium to connect the younger generation with India’s traditional knowledge systems.
Festival coordinator Shanti Saxena outlined the background, objectives, and upcoming sessions. Tanya Jain from Jaipur performed a Kathak dance accompanied by Saraswati Vandana, while 51 students from Vedic University chanted mantras from the four Vedas.
Anil Saxena ‘Lalkaar’ welcomed the guests, describing the festival as a campaign for cultural awakening. The festival was efficiently managed by Shashwat Saxena, founder of Youth Movement and organizing convenor.
The first day featured in-depth discussions on Hindi literature, local languages, Rajasthani identity, Sanskrit knowledge traditions, environmental ethics, and poetic lineages.
Hindi: Folk Language, District, and Democratic Consciousness
Speakers included Dr. Karunesh Saxena (Sangam University VC), Dr. Arjun Chavan (Kolhapur, Maharashtra), Dr. Govind Gupta (Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh), and Dr. Rakhi Singh (Vadodara).
Dialogue with Nature: Environmental Ethics in Folk Literature
Speakers Kishan Ratanani (former Director, PMO), Dr. Veena Joshi (National Awardee, Jaipur), Dr. Dinesh Panchal (Dungarpur), and Ghanshyam Singh Bhati (Banswara) discussed the intersection of literature and environmental consciousness. The session was moderated by Dr. Vidushi Ameta (Darbhanga University).
Literature among the People: Rajasthani Language, Identity, and Cultural Awareness
Padma Shri Dr. C.P. Deval (Ajmer), Dr. Bharat Ola (Hanumangarh), Dr. Rajendra Singhvi (Nimbahera), and Dr. Praveen Kumar Joshi (Bhilwara) spoke on the rich tradition and identity of the Rajasthani language. Moderation by Dr. Avadhesh Johri (Bhilwara).
Sanskrit: Knowledge Tradition and Modern Awareness
Speakers included Dr. Mahesh Dixit (VC, Shrikalyan Vedic University, Nimbahera), Munalal Dakot (Chittorgarh), Dr. Govind Gupta (Lakhimpur), along with scholars of oral poetry from Jaipur and Bhilwara.
Poetic Lineages in Lucknow, Jaipur, and Banaras
Chaired by Dr. Lokesh Kumar Singh Solanki, with lecture by Rama Pachisia (Bhilwara). Kathak dance performances were presented by Ahaan Jangid, Geeta Khatri, and Bhavya Sinha.
Under the chairmanship of Govind Gadiya, Vinod Bhardwaj (Jaipur) and senior literary figure Lokesh Kumar Singh Sahil inaugurated ‘Khud Ko Chuno’ by author Pooja Lohar (Dalot, Pratapgarh) and ‘Abhinav Kavya Moti’ by Abhimanyu Parashar (Jhunjhunu).
Speakers linked literature with social awareness, cultural preservation, and democratic values. The participation of writers from across Rajasthan and other states, along with active engagement from students and researchers, added special energy to the festival. Guests and students also explored the book fair and art gallery.
The first day of Chittorgarh Literature Festival–2026 concluded with literary dignity, cultural commitment, and strong youth participation. Sessions on diverse topics will continue in the following days.
