Youth Inspired Toward Social Service, Career Awareness and De-addiction

NSS Special Camp Organized at RCA Udaipur

Udaipur: A seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) Special Camp was successfully organized from February 23 to March 1, 2026, at Rajasthan College of Agriculture (RCA), a constituent college of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology.

During the camp, NSS volunteers actively participated in various community service activities, including shramdaan (voluntary labor), cleanliness drives, social awareness programs, and rural outreach campaigns. The primary objective of the camp was to instill a sense of social responsibility among students and connect them with community service.

Guidance on Social Responsibility

Dean Dr. M. K. Mehla addressed the students and elaborated on the rules, objectives, and significant role of NSS in social service. He urged the youth to become sensitive and responsible citizens committed to societal welfare.

Social activist and President of the Consumer Rights Organization, Dr. Rajshree Gandhi, delivered a motivational address on consumer rights and responsibilities. She emphasized that an aware consumer can guide society in the right direction and encouraged students to remain conscious of both their rights and duties.

Awareness on De-addiction

De-addiction expert Dr. P. C. Jain informed students about the harmful effects of various forms of substance abuse. He highlighted the alarming misuse of chemicals such as nail polish, petrol, thinner, and remover as intoxicants among youth. He explained that substances containing toluene, acetone, and other volatile chemicals directly affect the brain. While they may initially cause dizziness and a false sense of pleasure, prolonged use can lead to addiction, memory loss, headaches, stress, and other serious health issues.

Career Guidance for Youth

Career coach and founder of JS Global, Udaipur, Mr. Jitendra Singh, provided career guidance to students. He stated that in today’s technology-driven era, limitless career opportunities are available. He advised students not to rely solely on degrees but to develop practical skills, avoid digital addiction, and gain experience through internships and part-time work from early stages. He also cautioned against excessive use of social media and online gaming, stressing the need for balanced usage.

Rural Outreach and Awareness Rally

As part of the camp activities, NSS volunteers visited Hinta village, adopted by the university. Students organized an awareness rally to address social issues and encouraged villagers to:

  • Promote girls’ education

  • Oppose the dowry system

  • Prevent misuse of mobile phones among children

  • Stay alert against cyber fraud

  • Maintain cleanliness

  • Conserve water

  • Plant more trees

  • Avoid discrimination between sons and daughters

Cleanliness Drive and Valedictory Ceremony

A cleanliness drive was also conducted on the RCA campus. On this occasion, Dr. S. C. Meena interacted with students and highlighted the importance of a quality lifestyle and positive thinking.

The subject experts were welcomed by NSS Coordinator Dr. Hari Singh Meena, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Arjun Singh Rajput. Both Dr. Hari Singh Meena and Dr. Arjun Singh Rajput played active roles throughout the camp, while Dean Dr. Manoj Kumar Mehla regularly monitored the camp activities.

The seven-day NSS special camp concluded enthusiastically with a cultural program, marking a successful and impactful initiative toward youth development and social engagement.
