####Lake Lovers Express Concern: Sewage and Chemicals May Turn Lakes Toxic

Udaipur: The mixing of sewage and chemicals into lakes from their banks and ghats poses a serious threat to the environment and public health. These concerns were raised during a citizen-led lake inspection held on Sunday in Udaipur.

Dr. Anil Mehta, an expert associated with the Lake Conservation Committee, stated that human and animal waste is entering the lakes. Wastewater discharged from homes and hotels contains chemicals from shampoos, soaps, cosmetics, dishwashing liquids, and floor-cleaning products, which eventually flow into the lakes.

Dr. Mehta warned that this could make the water toxic and create significant public health challenges.

Former Lake Authority member Tej Shankar Paliwal described the situation as a serious environmental and ecological threat. He explained that sewage, solid waste, and microplastics can severely disrupt aquatic life, affecting their lifestyle and reproductive cycles.

Social activist Nand Kishore Sharma highlighted that such pollution may lead to gastrointestinal infections, skin diseases, and other neurological disorders among residents.

Educationist Kushal Rawal added that with the onset of March, temperatures will begin to rise. Higher water temperatures during summer accelerate bacterial growth, further deteriorating water quality and increasing health risks.

Senior citizen Drupad Singh urged the administration to take immediate action to ensure lake cleanliness and implement strict measures to control pollution.
