Banks’ Participation Will Strengthen Rural Livelihoods

Udaipur: A one-day Bankers’ Orientation Workshop was organized on Wednesday by the District Project Management Unit (DPMU) of Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad in Udaipur under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission.

The workshop was held at the District Council auditorium under the guidance of the District Collector and in the presence of the Chief Executive Officer of the Udaipur Zila Parishad, Riya Dabi. Branch managers from various banks participated in the workshop and were briefed about the schemes of the Rural Livelihoods Mission and related banking processes.

Information on NRLM and SHG Bank Linkages

During the inaugural session, District Project Manager of Rajeevika, Khyali Lal Khatik, provided detailed information about the concept, objectives, and key components of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission. He also emphasized the importance of bank linkages for Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

He explained that through SHGs, rural women are being provided better opportunities for financial empowerment and self-employment, helping strengthen livelihoods in rural communities.

Financial Inclusion and Banking Procedures

District Manager for Financial Inclusion, Shubham Soni, explained the process of financial inclusion, SHG-bank linkage, RBI guidelines, KYC norms, and opening savings accounts for groups.

He also discussed:

  • Loan facilities for Self-Help Groups

  • Improving the quality of loan applications

  • Term loans and cash credit limits

  • Renewal of credit limits

  • Strategies to achieve the targets for the current financial year

Digital Finance and Support Services

In the next session, participants were informed about Bank Sakhi and BC Sakhi initiatives, digital finance services, loan recovery processes, Community-Based Recovery Mechanisms (CBRM), and SHG account mapping for dual authentication.

The session also highlighted interest subsidies available for timely loan repayment, along with information about insurance and pension products linked to SHGs. A presentation was also given on the use of the Bank Linkage Portal.

Experience Sharing and Discussion

During the workshop, high-performing branch managers shared their experiences related to SHG lending and financial inclusion initiatives.

An interactive session was later held with the branch managers to discuss issues related to community members, Rajeevika staff, and banking coordination.

At the conclusion of the programme, Rajeevika officials thanked all participants and emphasized that strong coordination between banks and Self-Help Groups will accelerate employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment in rural areas. 🌱💼
