Udaipur: Amid rising concerns over LPG gas cylinder supply due to tensions in the Gulf countries, the district administration is fully alert to ensure smooth distribution of LPG cylinders. District Collector Namit Mehta held a meeting with LPG distributors on Wednesday at the Collectorate Mini Hall, in the presence of administrative officials. During the meeting, the District Collector emphasized that there should be no disruption in gas supply to the public, and any irregularities or black marketing would not be tolerated at any level.
District Logistics Officer Manish Bhatnagar informed that the district has 44 active gas distributor firms, including 8 HPCL, 18 BPCL, and 18 IOCL distributors. There are 673,099 domestic gas connections in the district, comprising 363,142 under the Ujjwala scheme and 309,957 general consumers. Authorities stated that approximately 10,000 domestic gas cylinders are being refilled daily, and the supply is ensured within 48–72 hours. Priority is given to domestic consumers, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities.
It was also highlighted that around 1,000 commercial gas cylinders are required daily. The District Collector instructed that sufficient stock of non-domestic cylinders should also be maintained. He directed officials and distributors to take immediate strict action if complaints arise regarding black marketing, hoarding, or irregular distribution. He emphasized that the LPG distribution system must remain transparent and efficient so that consumers face no inconvenience.
The meeting was attended by ADM City Jitendra Ojha, SDM Girwa Avula Saikrishna, BPCL Regional Manager Ajay Patel, sales officers Shlok Gupta (BPCL), Deepak Acharya (HPCL), Dharmendra (IOCL), along with other LPG distributors.
District Collector Namit Mehta appealed to the public, urging them not to panic regarding domestic gas cylinders. He reassured that there is sufficient stock of domestic LPG cylinders in the district, and those who have booked their cylinders will receive them without interruption as per the rules. He requested people not to pay attention to rumors or misinformation.
This proactive approach aims to ensure smooth and transparent LPG supply while preventing any black marketing or stockpiling in the district.
