DPS Udaipur’s Aryan Sharma Becomes Youngest Para Badminton Senior National Champion

Udaipur: Sixteen-year-old Aryan Sharma, a student of Delhi Public School Udaipur, has created history by winning the national title in the SL-4 Senior Category at the 7th Para Senior National Badminton Championship 2026 held in Hyderabad from March 6 to 10, 2026. Around 600 players from across the country participated in this prestigious tournament. At just 16 years of age, Aryan was the youngest competitor in the senior category.

The championship followed a knockout format, and Aryan achieved this remarkable feat by winning all seven of his matches from the qualifying rounds to the final. In the semifinal, he defeated world No. 4 and India’s No. 2 player Suryakant Yadav in straight sets, 21–13, 21–17, to secure a place in the final.

Earlier, in the pre-quarterfinals, Aryan caused a major upset by defeating former Paralympian Tarun Dhillon in a tough three-set match, 19–21, 21–16, 21–14.

Aryan Sharma was ultimately declared the champion in the final match.

It is noteworthy that in September last year, Aryan also won gold medals in both the junior and sub-junior categories at the Junior and Sub‑Junior Para Badminton Championship held in Lucknow.

With this achievement, Aryan Sharma has become the youngest para badminton player in the country to win gold medals in the junior, sub-junior, and senior categories within the same year.

This remarkable accomplishment is a matter of pride not only for Udaipur but also for the entire Rajasthan and the country.

Congratulating Aryan on his outstanding achievement, Govind Agrawal (Pro Vice-Chairman), Sanjay Narwaria (Principal), and Rajesh Dhabhai (Vice-Principal) expressed their happiness and extended their best wishes to Aryan and his parents for his bright future.
