Three-month extension given, yet no fresh tender issued

MLSU Website Goes Offline Overnight

Udaipur:The official website of Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) suddenly went offline overnight, raising serious concerns about the university’s digital management and administrative preparedness. When students, researchers, and applicants attempted to access the website in the morning, they found the site completely inaccessible, disrupting several important online services of the university.

Most university processes—including examination notifications, results, admission updates, and administrative information—are managed through the official website. Its sudden shutdown has caused inconvenience to thousands of students, leaving many essential academic and administrative tasks pending.

According to sources, the contract related to the website’s operation had already expired earlier. It is understood that the concerned firm was granted a temporary three-month extension to continue services, allowing the university sufficient time to complete a fresh tender process for the website’s management.

However, a review of the state government’s tender portal indicates that even after this extended period, no new open tender has yet been issued for the operation of the website. In government procedures, an open tender is generally considered mandatory for awarding such work, and the absence of a fresh tender has raised questions regarding administrative functioning.

Within the university structure, technical and website-related systems fall under the responsibility of the Director, Computer Centre. Following the website shutdown, discussions have intensified within the campus regarding accountability. Many believe that if the tender process had been initiated in time, the current situation could likely have been avoided.

In the digital era, the university’s official website serves as the primary communication bridge between the administration and thousands of students. Its abrupt shutdown has therefore not only disrupted services but also triggered concerns about the reliability of the university’s IT infrastructure.

The major question now being raised within the university community is whether the administration will initiate action against officials responsible for failing to release the open tender on time. Discussions on the issue are gaining momentum on campus, with students and faculty alike awaiting clarity and accountability in the matter.
