Sri Ganganagar: As part of the “Drug-Free Sri Ganganagar” campaign being carried out under the leadership of District Collector Dr. Manju and Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan, a de-addiction workshop was organized at the Sankalp De-addiction Centre in Sri Ganganagar. During the event, youth were made aware of the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraged with messages of self-confidence, courage, and a fresh start in life.
Vikram Jyani from the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment said that quitting addiction is not just a decision but the beginning of rebuilding one’s life. He added that once someone comes out of addiction, their responsibility is not only to change their own life but also to help others who are still trapped in the same situation.
He urged the youth that once they overcome addiction, they should extend their support to other young people struggling with the same problem, because this battle must be fought collectively. He also reminded participants that every individual is important to someone in this world. When someone cares about your life, it becomes your responsibility to protect it and not let your family’s hopes be shattered.
During the workshop, some participants shared their experiences and said that they had developed the habit of substance abuse through their friends. Responding to this, Vikram Jyani said that anyone who introduces you to addiction cannot be a true friend; such a person is pushing you toward destruction. A real friend, he said, is one who protects you from the wrong path rather than leading you toward it.
The center’s director, Advocate Ajay Bagadia, encouraged the youth by saying that mistakes can happen in life, but true courage lies in learning from them and moving forward. Counselor Balwan Singh added that young people who decide to quit addiction can become role models for society and inspire others through their experiences to stay away from drugs.
At the end of the program, Sagar Wadhwa, Praveen Kumar, and the participating youth took a pledge to stay away from addiction and contribute to spreading the message of a drug-free society.
