Udaipur: On the eve of the 42nd Annual Maharana Mewar Award Ceremony, statues of Maharana Bhim Singh of Mewar, the 67th Ekling Diwan of Mewar, and James Tod, the Political Agent representing the Western Rajput States during his reign, were unveiled at a dignified ceremony organized by the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation in Udaipur.
The statues were unveiled by Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Chairman and Managing Trustee of the foundation, along with Norbert Peabody from the United Kingdom, who received the Colonel James Tod Award in 2020, and Molly Emma Aitken, the recipient of the Colonel James Tod Award for 2026.
On the occasion, guests present at the ceremony paid tribute to these historic personalities and recalled the glorious heritage of Mewar.
It is noteworthy that during the reign of Maharana Bhim Singh, Colonel James Tod arrived in Mewar in 1818 as an agent of the East India Company. He supported the Maharana in governance and carried out several important initiatives in the interest of Mewar, while also playing a significant role in documenting and preserving the region’s history and culture.
The event was attended by many distinguished guests from India and abroad, award recipients of the foundation, and other special invitees. They described the ceremony as a symbol of dedication to the rich heritage and legacy of Mewar.
