Exhibition on “Mewar in Archives” Inaugurated on Rajasthan Day in Udaipur

Udaipur: On the occasion of Rajasthan Day, the Office of Rajasthan State Archives, Udaipur has organized an exhibition titled “Abhilekho Me Mewar” from March 16 to March 19, 2026 at the library of Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi, Udaipur.

The exhibition was inaugurated on March 16, 2026 at 3:00 PM by the Hon’ble MLA of Udaipur city, Shri Tarachand Jain. On this occasion, renowned historian Shri Krishna Jugunu, noted architect Shri Sunil Ladha, along with scholars, researchers, and distinguished citizens, visited and observed the exhibition.

After visiting the exhibition, MLA Shri Tarachand Jain expressed his admiration and suggested the establishment of a dedicated archival gallery in Udaipur to showcase the region’s glorious history to the general public.

Following the inauguration, a seminar on the theme “Abhilekho Me Mewar” was organized, where Shri Tarachand Jain attended as the Chief Guest, historian Shri Krishna Jugunu presided over the session, and architect Shri Sunil Ladha was the Guest of Honour.

In his address, Shri Jain described the history of Mewar as glorious and emphasized that “history is the foundation of our culture. If history is preserved, our culture remains alive. Archives play a vital role in safeguarding this heritage.”

Historian Shri Krishna Jugunu highlighted that history is a valuable legacy that helps us understand our civilization, literature, and culture. Sharing interesting insights, he mentioned that the tradition of translation in the world originated in Mewar.

Architect Shri Sunil Ladha stated that history provides deep insights into our ancient grandeur, archaeology, and craftsmanship. He also announced that he would prepare the architectural design for the department’s allotted land in Udaipur free of cost.

Assistant Director Shri Basant Singh Solanki informed that the exhibition showcases various archival records depicting Mewar’s administrative conditions, income-expenditure details, rainfall data, copper plates, ledgers, and records of fairs.

The seminar was conducted by Shri Rajat Kahaniwala. Among those present were Shri Kundan Mali, Hemant Joshi, Sunil Tank, Sarita Jain, Ramdayal Mehar, along with staff members of the office and academy, and several distinguished citizens.
