Udaipur Rural District Congress Protests Fuel Shortages and Rising LPG Prices, Blames Central Government’s Foreign Policies

Both engines of the double-engine government have failed – Raghuveer Singh Meena

Udaipur: The Udaipur Rural District Congress Committee held a protest today against the shortage of fuel (petrol, diesel, and cooking gas) across the country and the recent ₹60 increase in domestic LPG cylinder prices, citing the central government’s flawed foreign policies. The protest took place at the Shanti Ji and Anandi Ji memorial in Delhi Gate, where an effigy of the central BJP government was also burned.

Media in-charge Dinesh Audichya stated that the hike in LPG prices and disruption in commercial cylinder supplies during wedding and festive seasons has caused severe difficulties for ordinary citizens. Following directions from the PCC, the district Congress staged a demonstration to highlight these issues. The protest was led by Udaipur Rural District Congress President Raghuveer Singh Meena, who strongly criticized the central government’s policies.

Speaking at the protest, Meena said that while the Modi government claims in Parliament that there is no shortage of gas, the closure of bookings by gas agencies proves the government is misleading the public. Due to these policy failures, household budgets are strained, and small businesses such as restaurants, dhabas, and sweet shops across Udaipur and the country are struggling. The shortage and skyrocketing prices of commercial cylinders have led to unemployment for thousands of youth working in these establishments, putting their families at risk. Meena criticized the government for being insensitive: domestic gas has become expensive for households, and small businesses are facing hardships simultaneously. He emphasized that the central government’s flawed foreign policies are directly affecting ordinary citizens and that the BJP governments at both central and state levels are indifferent to public suffering.

Through the protest, Congress demanded the reversal of the ₹60 LPG price hike and assured that fuel (petrol, diesel, and cooking gas) would be made available to citizens on time. Former MLA Preeti Shaktawat and women Congress workers also staged a symbolic protest by cooking rotis on stoves to highlight rising gas prices.
