Poetry Recital Organized by Punjabi Language Academy on Rajasthan Day

Sri Ganganagar: On the occasion of Rajasthan Day, the Rajasthan Punjabi Language Academy, under the guidance of the Department of Art, Literature, Culture, and Archaeology, Jaipur, organized a poetry recital at the premises of the District Council, Sri Ganganagar.

The program was presided over by Baldev Singh Barad, with Chief Guest Bhanwar Lal Swami. The event commenced with the lighting of a lamp before Goddess Saraswati. Dr. Meenakshi Ahuja welcomed all the distinguished guests and introduced the Academy.

The poetry recital began with a performance by Kumari Archana from Government Girls College, Sri Ganganagar, which was well received by the audience. Following her, poets including Harmanpal Kaur Dhonsi Saharanawali, Neha Arora, Mrs. Simarjeet Kaur, Mrs. Shaminder Kaur, and Mrs. Paramjeet Kaur ‘Reet’, along with senior literary figure Dr. Meenakshi Ahuja, recited poems focusing on the safety and challenges faced by girls in today’s society. Poet Jasdeep Singh also presented his compositions.

Mrs. Vandana Vani won the audience’s hearts with her musical renditions of her poems. Guest poets from Punjab, Rasdeep Singh and senior literary figure Balvinder Singh Chahal Padampur, emotionally recounted the pain and martyrdom of the four Sahibzadas, leaving the audience deeply moved.

At the conclusion, all participating poets were honored with mementos and certificates by President Barad and Chief Guest Swami. President Barad remarked that events like these, organized across Rajasthan on the occasion of Rajasthan Day, reflect the commendable efforts of the state government. Dr. N.P. Singh, Secretary of the Academy, expressed gratitude to all the participating poets. The program was conducted by Mrs. Shaminder Kaur and Dr. Meenakshi Ahuja.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Shashi Bhushan Sharma, Jagdish Kumar Kamra, Mahendra Kumar, Navdeep Singh, Sukhmahendra Singh, Suraj Sarsar, Maniram Setia, Dr. Babita Kajal, Mrs. Neetu Bishnoi, Sardool Singh (President of Tarkshil Society), Panch Kumbha Ram, Sardar Navjot Singh Barad, among others.
