Jaipur: On the occasion of Rajasthan Day, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma officially launched the Chief Minister Developed Village-Urban Ward Campaign, calling it a major initiative to transform development into a people-driven movement. The campaign’s website and promotional video were also unveiled during the launch at the Chief Minister’s residence.
The CM emphasized that the campaign is a comprehensive effort to create a development roadmap for every village and urban ward in the state based on local aspirations. He urged citizens to actively participate, turning this initiative into a widespread public movement that combines village development with improvements in individual quality of life.
Boosting Local Employment and Resources
Sharma stated that the master plans will prioritize local resources, traditional skills, and employment opportunities to maintain rural population balance and reduce migration to urban areas. Each village’s agriculture, vegetation, minerals, traditional arts, and industries will be identified. Special attention will be given to agricultural processing units, mandis, and value addition to increase income and create local jobs.
Record Per Capita Income Achieved
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts for holistic development of youth, women, farmers, and the poor. Over the past years, more than 125,000 youths have received government jobs, around 1.6 million women benefited under the Lakhpati Didi scheme, and farmers’ honorariums have been increased. These efforts have helped raise per capita income in the state to over ₹2 lakh for the first time.
Village Socio-Economic Profiles and Citizen Engagement
Sharma directed that detailed socio-economic profiles covering education, healthcare, roads, electricity, water, and employment be prepared for every village. District Collectors will consult local youth, farmers, and women to gather suggestions. Local groups and youth teams will assist Gram Panchayats in planning and decision-making.
Development Aligned with Local Aspirations
The campaign aligns with the Developed Rajasthan 2047 vision, prepared in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Developed India 2047 concept. Master plans will be dynamic, incorporating short-term (2030), medium-term (2035), and long-term (2047) development goals, ensuring projects reflect local people’s aspirations.
The CM also noted the historical significance of Rajasthan Day, marking the formation of Greater Rajasthan by India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada in 1949. He extended greetings for Chaitra Navratri, Hindu New Year, and Rajasthan Day.
First Gram Sabhas and Ward Meetings on March 20
The campaign, running from March 19 to May 15, will begin with the first Gram Sabhas and Ward Meetings on March 20, introducing citizens to the campaign framework. Subsequent meetings will be conducted in phases. Panchayat- and ward-level teams will engage with citizens to prepare a database, and master plan activities will be approved after discussions with stakeholders and departments. The campaign emphasizes evidence-based planning, creating dynamic socio-economic and cultural profiles and GIS-based base maps for every village and urban ward. A dedicated portal will be used for campaign implementation.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, and senior officials from various departments attended the launch. Ministers, other public representatives, and officials from different districts joined via video conferencing.
