Udaipur: The lakeside city is all set to resonate with the festive spirit of Cheti Chand, the grandest festival of the Sindhi community. This year, Udaipur will witness a breathtaking spectacle combining devotion, faith, and artistry, created by the city’s renowned Apna Sangathan, a Limca Book of Records-recognized organization known for its creative displays.
Varun Avatar: 600-Square-Foot Magnificent Tableau
The organization’s president, Surendra Arora, shared that for the past 25 years, Apna Sangathan has created Cheti Chand displays that captivate the city. This year, a massive 600-square-foot tableau of Lord Jhulelal Sai will be showcased, with the deity depicted on the ‘moon’ amidst twinkling stars—giving the impression that celestial radiance has descended directly onto Udaipur.
Arora added that the preparation of this grand masterpiece has involved the full dedication of the organization, with not only members but also their families—children, women, and elders—enthusiastically participating.
Grand Assembly of 23,000 Lamps
A total of 23,000 clay lamps are being decorated in vibrant devotional colors. Some participants are cleaning the lamps, while others are painting intricate details on Lord Jhulelal’s crown, the moon, and his attire, bringing the tableau vividly to life.
This collective effort symbolizes that the event is not merely that of a single organization, but a celebration of the community and family unity.
Apna Sangathan spokesperson Virendra Khabrani invited all devotees in Udaipur to join this grand celebration. On Friday, March 20 (Cheti Chand), at Shaktinagar’s Sanatan Dharma Mandir, from 7:30 PM to midnight, families can witness this rich Sindhi tradition and the incredible dedication of Apna Sangathan. This unique blend of devotion, familial bonding, and modern artistry is sure to touch every heart.
