Action Taken Against Trading Company for Lack of Packing License

Udaipur: In a special drive conducted by the Consumer Affairs Department under the guidance of Food Minister Sumit Godara, action was taken against the food spice packing firm Lakhdataar Trading Company for operating without a valid packing license. The initiative aims to protect consumer interests and ensure business transparency.

During inspection, the firm was found operating without a packing license, and the weighing instruments in use were also not verified. Consequently, a fine of ₹7,000 was imposed on the company under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, and the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.

In the same campaign, an inspection of Messrs Singhvi Oil Industries in Bedla was conducted, where the packing license and net content compliance were found to be in order.

Legal Metrology Officer Rakesh Maheshwari instructed the firm to obtain a valid packing license, display the required information on packaging, and ensure proper verification of weighing units. Further inspections will be carried out as per departmental directives to safeguard consumer interests.
